Repeat winners are Saturday story at Canyon

PEORIA, Ariz. (March 17) – Repeat winners were the story Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park.

Jason Noll wasted no time following a Leading Edge IMCA Modified restart and made what proved to be the race-winning pass of Ryan Roath to the inside when the green flag flew. Chaz Baca had a strong run going until a misstep allowed Joey Moriarity to get by to the inside, putting both MRT Racecar teammates on the podium.

For the first time in almost a full year the race fans at Canyon were treated to a full Allscapes IMCA Stock Car battle between Cody Center and George Fronsman. It seems between the two it’s been one of them having some type of mechanical problem over the last six or so races. At last, both cars held up to full strength and the fight raged on.

Much of the race was led by Fronsman on the low side while Center continued to chip away on the cushion. Center finally got the run he needed to get by Fronsman and did look back.

For the third time this season, Joe Peterson recovered from an early trip to the hot pits en route to victory lane in the Desert Restorations IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Billy Ayres Jr. captured his second win of the year in the brand new Mach-1 Sport Compact division.

Next up at Canyon Speedway Park on Saturday, March 31 will be the Easter Eggstravaganza, featuring the Leading Edge IMCA Modifieds and Arizona Differential IMCA Northern SportMods.

Dan Shepherd Memorial Stock Car Shootout set at Canyon

PEORIA, Ariz. – IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both race for $1,000 to win on night two of Canyon Speedway Park’s inaugural Dan Shepherd Memorial. The Sunday, Sept. 1 Modified main is a qualifying event for the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and pays a minimum of $100 to start. The 77-lap Stock Car feature pays a minimum of $75 to start. Also on Sunday, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $500 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250. On Saturday, Aug. 31, Modifieds race for $750 to win, Stock Cars for $500, Hobby Stocks for $250 and Sport Compacts for $150. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Spark Plugs State and track points will be awarded both nights. Noll knows way to Canyon’s winner circle

By Tony Steele PEORIA, Ariz. (July 22) – Jason Noll captured his second Arizona Differential IMCA Modified win of the season Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park. Rookie T.J. Wyman rolled off on the front row of the feature next to Guy Norton, with Norton leading the way through the first two laps. Wyman took over on lap three while Norton’s evening ended early with mechanical issues. Meanwhile, Noll clicked his way through traffic, taking over the lead from Wyman as lap four was completed. John Parmeley worked his way through the field at the same time, moving into the runner-up spot from the 15th starting position. Noll held off Parmeley with Kenny Gill, Ryan Roath and Popeye Madrid rounding out the top five. George Fronsman picked up his sixth win in the Allscapes IMCA Stock Cars. Joe Vlasity now holds the most wins of the year in the Desert Restorations IMCA Hobby Stocks with his third win in 2019. Robert Cody closed out the evening with his Mach-1 Sport Compact division leading fourth feature win.

Four race dates in Canyon’s IMCA Winter Challenge

PEORIA, Ariz. – Four IMCA divisions race all four dates in the 2020 Winter Challenge at Canyon Speedway Park. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,250 to win and a minimum of $125 to start Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying features on Saturdays and Sundays Jan. 25-26 and Feb. 1-2. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both vie for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks run for $500 to win and a minimum of $75 to start. Whisler Wires IMCA Wild West Speedweek Modified Field at Cottage Grove

(Jun. 19, 2025) — Eston Whisler wasted no time establishing control of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Cottage Grove Speedway on Thursday night during IMCA Wild West Speedweek. The 20-year-old racer from Otis, took the lead at the drop of the green and never looked back. A caution on lap two bunched the field early, but Whisler mastered the lone restart and quickly rebuilt his advantage. As the race stayed green, he encountered lapped traffic by lap 13 and spent the remainder of the 35-lap contest slicing through slower cars. Behind him, a spirited battle for second unfolded between Kevin Williamson, piloting the Superior Fuel Cell-owned No. 42, and Bricen James in the Schram Motorsports No. 13. $7,500-to-Win Modified Nationals Returns to Grays Harbor Raceway July 18–19

(June 18, 2025) — One of the biggest Friesen Performance Modified races in the Pacific Northwest returns for its 26th running, as the Modified Nationals takes center stage at Grays Harbor Raceway on Friday and Saturday, July 18–19. The event pays an impressive $7,500 to win and $200 to start Saturday’s 40-lap main event, with over $20,000 in total purse money up for grabs. This IMCA-sanctioned special will feature two nights of intense racing. On Friday, all drivers will compete in two heat races — the first lined up straight-up by pill draw, the second fully inverted by original draw order.
