Lafferty Captures Prestigious Camp Barnes Benefit Race

GEORGETOWN, Del. (July 31, 2026) — Rick Lafferty charged from third to victory Friday night, passing race-long leader Robbie Stillwaggon with five laps remaining to capture the prestigious Camp Barnes Benefit Race at Georgetown Speedway with the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capitol Renegade.

Stillwaggon led from the drop of the green, while Lafferty settled into third behind Robbie and Ryan Stillwaggon during the early stages of the 25-lap feature.

Lafferty worked past Ryan Stillwaggon for second on lap eight and gradually reeled in the leader over the next several circuits. After several unsuccessful bids, Lafferty capitalized when Robbie Stillwaggon drifted high entering turn three on lap 20, allowing him to drive underneath and complete the winning pass.

A caution moments later for Zach Fields, who slowed with mechanical issues on the front straightaway, set up a five-lap dash to the finish. Lafferty remained in control on the restart and held off Robbie Stillwaggon to secure the victory.

The win was Lafferty’s first of the season and his second career triumph with the DCB Plumbing & Heating Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series presented by Capitol Renegade. The $1,600 victory came in the prestigious Camp Barnes Benefit Race.

Robbie Stillwaggon recorded his best series finish of the season in second after narrowly edging Eddie Wagner at the stripe. Troy Betts finished fourth, and Tim Iulg completed the top five.

Earlier in the evening, Robbie and Ryan Stillwaggon posted the two fastest qualifying times to earn the front row for the feature.

The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series returns to action Saturday, Aug. 8, at Bridgeport Speedway.

DeVault Dominates for Redemption Win at Bridgeport

(Mar. 29, 2025) — Bob DeVault powered to a commanding win Saturday night in the 25-lap RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car main event at Bridgeport Speedway, marking the second Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series event of the season. DeVault, of Alloway, New Jersey, launched into the lead from the drop of the green at the 4/10-mile “Kingdom of Speed”.
