Ulmer Wins Photo Finish in Dacotah Stock Car Feature

MANDAN, N.D. (June 12, 2026) — Travis Ulmer charged from ninth starting position and edged Jason Berg by inches at the checkered flag to win the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature Friday night at Dacotah Speedway.

Bismarck’s Brandon Honrud led the field to green before outside front-row starter Berg quickly assumed command. Berg and Matt Dosch spent much of the race battling for the lead while Ulmer steadily worked his way through traffic.

A caution with four laps remaining erased Berg’s advantage and set up a dramatic finish. Ulmer moved past Dosch on the restart and immediately challenged Berg. Berg excelled in turns one and two while Ulmer found speed in turns three and four, setting the stage for a thrilling final lap.

At the stripe, Ulmer narrowly defeated Berg to score his first Dacotah Speedway victory since June of 2013 and his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season.

Berg settled for second, followed by Dosch, Jason Meidinger and Casey Binstock.

Kinzley Captures First Modified Win of Season

Quentin Kinzley scored his first Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of 2026 after winning an entertaining Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature.

Kinzley quickly took the lead at the drop of the green flag while Mark Dahl and Shawn Strand battled for second. Strand eventually secured the runner-up position and began applying pressure to the leader as Kinzley pushed the high groove around the speedway.

After Kinzley slipped off the front stretch on lap 10, Strand closed the gap and the pair traded sliders while racing side-by-side for the lead. A caution with 12 laps remaining regrouped the field and gave Strand another opportunity, but Kinzley was able to pull away during the closing laps.

Kinzley crossed the finish line first ahead of Strand. Zach Frederick advanced from ninth starting position to finish third, while defending track champion Jeremy Keller and Crist Pittenger completed the top five.

Braaksma Repeats as Dakota Classic Modified Tour Champion; Munoz Breaks Through in Stock Cars

In the end, Ethan Braaksma of Newton, Iowa rose to the top once again, securing his second consecutive tour title. Driving the Danny Meier and Trent Guest-owned no. 111, Braaksma built a consistent and commanding week: runner-up at Jamestown, third in Estevan, back-to-back wins at Williston and Dickinson, and a seventh-place finish at Mandan despite a blown engine in the finale. His ability to finish strong each night proved pivotal in defending his crown. California’s Cody Laney was a hard-charging runner-up in the standings. Hibdon gets biggest IMCA Modified win at Dacotah Speedway’s Iron Man

MANDAN, N.D. (June 5) – Kollin Hibdon brought a simple strategy into Saturday night’s 100-lap Iron Man main event for IMCA Modifieds at Dacotah Speedway. And after staying patient and “not burning stuff up,” the 17-year-old from Pahrump, Nev., had a career highlight-type win and $5,000 to show for his first visit to the quick North Dakota oval. “This was my biggest win ever. I’ve won $1,500 to win and $1,700 to win races but nothing over $2,000,” said Hibdon, who chased teammate Casey Arneson over the first half of the race, then caught and held off Jeremy Keller the last 21 laps. “I kept looking at the leader board late in the race and knew if I didn’t burn stuff up that I had a pretty good chance.” Arneson and Hibdon ran 1-2 to the mandatory caution at midway. IMCA Stock Car win shocks ex-street stocker Domagala

Hunter Domagala won the first weekly feature for the Stock Cars at Dacotah Speedway, taking advantage of a late-race caution and miscues by the two cars running ahead of him following the ensuing restart. “We had very little expectations. I’m kind of shocked we won,” said Domagala, the WISSOTA Street Stock champion the last four years that class ran at Mandan. “There’s a whole new learning curve with this class and I told my crew we were going to try to learn something new every night. Eagle River Speedway to Host Pair of Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Qualifiers

(June 17, 2026) — Eagle River Speedway will host a pair of Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifying events on Tuesday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 21, at the third-mile clay oval. Both Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified specials will pay $1,000 to win and $125 to start. A draw/redraw format will be used for both programs. The winner of each event will earn eligibility to attempt to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, which will be held during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway in September. “With all of the card-carrying IMCA Modified drivers just to the south of us, we’ve actually had a pretty good buzz about hosting two of these races,” said promoter Pat Zdroik. “We’re hoping for a decent turnout for both of those scheduled events.” There will be no draw fee for either event. Micah Lavrenz: Finding Home, Family, and Racing in Burt

And on warm summer evenings, they know which garage doors are open. One of those garage doors changed Micah Lavrenz’s life. Around 2000 or 2001, Lavrenz and his father Floyd were driving through town when they noticed activity at the shop of Del Reutzel, a family friend whose excavating business had long been part of the community. Herrera and Raynard Capture 2026 Tougher Than Dirt Tour Titles

(June 12, 2026) — Consistency proved just as valuable as race wins during the 2026 T&A Tong and Indicator Tougher Than Dirt Tour presented by Schatz Performance, as Payce Herrera and Diezel Raynard emerged with championships after five nights of competition across North Dakota and Saskatchewan. Payce Herrera of Price, Utah, claimed the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod title by just four points. Herrera opened the tour with a runner-up finish at McLean County Speedway, scored his first career tour victory at Williston Basin Speedway, finished second at Estevan Motor Speedway, third at Thunder Mountain Speedway, and capped the week with another runner-up effort at Nodak Speedway.
