COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (May 29, 2026) — Getting that first feature win is always special, and Garrett Porter accomplished exactly that Friday night in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature at CJ Speedway.
The Libertyville racer started fifth and methodically worked his way forward before taking command just past the midway point of the race. Porter then had to withstand a furious late challenge from Zach McNeese as the pair raced side-by-side off the final corner.
Porter prevailed by less than a car length to secure his place among the winners in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region in 2026.
McNeese, who started seventh, finished second. Dalton Weepie crossed the stripe third while Brayden Wood advanced from ninth to fourth. Spencer Hopwood completed a strong drive from 10th to fifth.
Wood Continues Columbus Junction Mastery in Stock Car Feature
Nathan Wood once again proved to be the driver to beat in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars.
Starting 10th, the Sigourney driver steadily worked his way through the field while Dustin Griffiths followed his march to the front. Once Wood reached the lead, Griffiths stayed within striking distance but was unable to find a way around the smooth-running No. 52 machine.
Wood collected his fifth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, with all five wins coming at CJ Speedway.
Griffiths finished second while Austin O’Donnell advanced from eighth to third. Curtis Kline was fourth and Kirk Kinsley completed the top five.
VanWyk Charges From 12th for SportMod Victory
A stout field of 23 Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods took the green flag Friday night, and Dylan VanWyk quickly reminded everyone why he was nearly unbeatable at CJ Speedway a season ago.
VanWyk, who started 12th, sliced through the field and reached the lead by lap three after a remarkable charge from deep in the pack. The Oskaloosa standout never looked back once out front.
The victory was VanWyk’s eighth win of the season and came at his sixth different track of 2026.
Fellow Oskaloosa racer Cole VanDerWal advanced from seventh to finish second while Chase Johnson completed the podium in third. Tyler Heckart put together a strong run from 10th to fourth, and Dustin Griffiths rounded out the top five.
Kile Captures Another CJ Modified Triumph
Defending track champion Kurt Kile added another chapter to his successful CJ Speedway resume in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified main event.
Dan Brockert led the early laps before Kile, who started fourth, utilized multiple grooves around the fast 4/10-mile oval to work his way to the front.
Once in command, the Nichols driver maintained control and secured his second Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the season, with both wins coming at CJ Speedway.
Brockert finished second ahead of Adam Shelman in third. Blaine Bryant claimed fourth while Brandon Banks rounded out the top five.
