Davenport’s Corn State Nationals pays IMCA Modified winner $5,000

DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 8) – Joe Docekal dialed up the $2,000 feature win at Davenport Speed­way’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod Challenge Friday night. The 50-lap main event started with Troy Bauer taking the lead from a front row starting spot. After a lap 11 restart, Dalton Simonsen, made his bid for the lead on the high side. As Bauer moved up to block the move, Tony Olson dove to the bottom and took away the lead. Olson, the 2016 SportMod Challenge winner, then led the next 30 laps. The final restart came on lap 44 and allowed Docekal to drive around Olson for lead. Docekal led the remaining laps for the win. Gage Neal also passed Olson in the final laps to finish se­cond. VINTON, Iowa – The paydays get even better this week for a trio of IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature winners.  It begins Wednesday evening at 300 Raceway in Farley as the IMCA Late Model winner pockets an extra $250 courtesy of Sunoco Race Fuels. Thursday night the bonus moves to Davenport Speedway, and the night begins with last Friday’s make-up feature. Then the pot gets richer as the next $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus of the season will be paid to the scheduled June 25 IMCA Late Model winner. The final bonus of the week will be presented Friday night at Marshalltown Speedway. Double Late Model features are also on the card at Marshalltown, with the $250 Sunoco bonus presented to the night’s second feature winner – the evening’s originally scheduled feature. DAVENPORT, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds chase a top check of $2,000 along with a berth on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational at Davenport Speedway’s Friday, May 18 Modified Madness 50 special. The main event pays a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and Iowa State points, but no track points will be awarded. Modifieds are draw/redraw. There is a $50 entry fee. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $30. IMCA Late Models and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the program that evening, vying for all points.  All racing will be on the quarter-mile oval.
