COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 14, 2024) – Four IMCA divisions ran as part of Friday’s Tony Stewart Tribute Race and John Oliver Jr. took home trophies after two of them.

Oliver scored his first twofer of the season by topping both the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods.

In the Stock Car main, Oliver made his way to the front from a fifth row start and took the lead early from Kirk Kinsley. Oliver went on to use every inch of the track to maneuver the smooth fast track.

“Dan and his crew gave us a perfect track tonight and we were able to run anywhere,” he said from victory lane, after taking the win over a tough challenger in Corey Strothman with Kinsley running third.

In the Northern SportMod feature, Oliver again had to make his way to the front from a third row start. Oliver overtook race leader Tyler Heckart  on lap eight and went on to take the win ahead of the of Heckart and Nick Aupperle.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature win went to Kyle Madden as he shot into the lead from his outside front row start and went on to lead the main event flag to flag.

Madden was pressured throughout by Kurt Kile but was able to hold off Kile for his second CJ Speedway win of the season. Defending track champion Jarrett Brown turned in his usual consistent finish with a strong third place finish.

First-time visitor in 2024 to CJ Speedway Nathan Ballard scored the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win, in close fashion over Luke Phillips and Ryan Havel.

Ballard has raced his new car 13 times this season and 11 times has made his way to victory lane.

Friday, June 21 will be Weikert Appliance Night at the CJ Speedway with hot laps taking to the track at 7 p.m. with racing to follow.
