EAGLE, Neb. (May 4, 2024) – Where could you see 151 cars signed in, running a race program that included five main events, four ‘B’ features, three ‘C’ features and two ‘D’ features and the final checkers at 10:30 p.m.?
Eagle Raceway fit that bill Saturday night with IMCA feature wins going to Shawn Harker, Brandon Horton, Kyle Vanover, Dillon Richards and Cole Wayman.
Harker’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win was his career first win in the class. He’d be in the pits ‘til the wee hours of the morning getting congratulations from friends and fellow racers along with early birthday greetings.
“It feels great. We’ve come close a lot of times and this time the circumstances finally worked out for us,” said Harker, who collected track titles at Eagle in 2018 and 2021 while totaling 40 Northern SportMod checkers plus special events wins in Las Vegas and around the Midwest before moving to the Modified three years ago.
“Coming to the checkers I thought ‘Finally, I finally got the monkey off my back.’”
Mike Densberger was second, Chad Andersen third.
Horton led the distance of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature, chased across the stripe by Cody Ledger and Cole Wayman.
Vanover led just the last lap, catching and passing Nick Beckman for the Stock Car win. Arie Schouten took third.
Wayman drew the pole and stretched his advantage to half a lap by the end of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Richard Flock was second, Drake Bohlmeyer third.
And Dillon Richards topped the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature from 10th starting.
“I knew that if I could just get around the top, that’s where I run best here. If I could get up there, get to the front and then move to the bottom to protect the lead it would work pretty good,” he said.
Eric Chab and Colin Hein were scored next.
Saturday, May 11 at Eagle Raceway is Mom’s Rule Night presented by Empire Fence and Rotella’s. Front gates open at 5:15 p.m. with adult admission being $15, youths 6-12 are $5 and kids 5 and under are free.
