Bellm begins building process at Lincoln County with five IMCA divisions

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (March 18, 2024) – Joe Bellm brings his 37 years of promotion expertise to a third track beginning this season, taking charge at Lincoln County Raceway.

Five sanctioned divisions, the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts, run at the North Platte, Neb., venue, on eight dates complementary to those at Bellm-promoted El Paso County Raceway in Calhan and Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, both in northeast Colorado.

“We have had North Platte on our radar. Fifty percent of the people in this town are race fans and will support a dirt race track,” Bellm said. “And the schedules will make sense for drivers want to travel and race for IMCA championships.”

Lincoln County opens with the April 19-20 Cornhusker Classic, followed by the May 4 Nascar Night show and June 1, June 28-29 Sandhills Shootout Summer Nationals, July 6 and Aug. 3 season championship dates.

Lincoln County and Phillips County each have three BST Northern Challenge Series dates while El Paso County has four and Phillips County has three BST Southern Challenge Series dates for the IMCA divisions.

All race dates and additional information are posted at www.bstpromotions.com.

“There are 22 events in all and this schedule makes it convenient for drivers to race as much as they want. I know a lot of them are already looking at that because they can race for multiple IMCA championships,” Bellm said, “as many as three track and two series, plus IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and regional points and points in two states.”

Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will pilot Stock Cars in the $1,000 to win Nascar Night, held in conjunction with the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America in North Platte. Fans who attend that event receive a 50 percent off voucher for the races that evening.

The United Rebel Sprint Series is also on the card both nights of the June 28 and 29 Sandhills Shootout Summer Nationals.

“BST has been around for a while, we seem to put on races in a timely manner and have good corporate support,” said Bellm, noting that race programs at all three tracks would be broadcast by IMCA.TV this season. “We met with the Lincoln County Ag Society and they have already made improvements to the grounds. We were the best people in the geographical area to promote North Platte and reached a one-year deal with a five-year extension.”

“This is a building process.”

The first IMCA Modified champion was crowned in North Platte in 1992.

Sanctioned Stock Cars joined weekly lineups at Lincoln County in 2003, with Hobby Stocks coming on board in 2006, the Northern SportMods in 2010 and Sport Compacts in 2012.
