Andrews sails from 10th to Eagle checkers

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 4) – Gunnar Pike was first to the checkers in the Saturday Sam’s Club IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Eagle Raceway. Pike quickly put his no. 25 machine out front, followed by Adam Vrbka, Derek Hall and Roger Sluka.  Hall passed Vrbka on lap two, Shawn Harker cracked the top four on lap four and on the restart following a lap 10 caution, Harker moved up to third and then advanced to second the following lap.  Arie Schouten put his ride into fourth with seven laps remaining. Nobody could catch Pike despite a se­ries of late cautions. Schouten moved up to third on the final circuit to make the top four Pike, Harker, Schou­ten and Vrbka. Cade Richards won the first weekly IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Eagle. The victory by the two-division star followed up his first-ever victory at Eagle which came in a Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and came ahead of Kyle Vanover and Jordan Grabouski.  “We’ve got the car working really well on these high banked tracks. We’re really improving and getting it closer to where we want it, so hopefully we can keep building off my two wins this week and keep it going,” said Richards, also the Friday winner at Salina. “The Stock Car is better right now because we have it so close, but they’re both really close right now. EAGLE, Neb. – IMCA Sprint Car teams from across the country and from up the road are already arriving at Eagle Raceway for the Sept. 2-5 RaceSaver Nationals powered by Sunbelt Rentals. “We’ve got all sorts of stuff going on,” Promoter Roger Hadan said this morning. “We’ve already got cars here from North Carolina and Virginia, and we’ve got a car rolling through tech now that’s from a mile up the road.
