Stock Cars get top billing at Abilene Speedway’s IMCA.TV Ice Breaker

ABILENE, Texas – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at the Abilene Speedway season-opening IMCA.TV Ice Breaker Feb. 18 and 19. 

The Friday night feature for The Class Too Tough To Tame pays $750 to win while the Saturday night Prelude to the Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour main event boasts a hefty $3,000 paycheck. The Saturday runner-up takes home $2,000, with $1,000 paid for third, $900 for fourth and $800 for fifth. Starting the 20-car feature pays a minimum of $300.

“The IMCA.TV Prelude to the Sniper Speed Lone Star Stock Car Tour will be an excellent opportunity for Stock Car drivers from Texas and travelers from around the country to run for the $3,000 to win, $300 to start event and earn a pile of money to pay tour expenses,” said IMCA President Brett Root.

Both Stock Car winners at Abilene become eligible to qualify for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational.

IMCA Modifieds race for $700 to win on opening night at Abilene and for $1,000 to win, along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility, on Saturday. Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods race for $600 to win, Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250 to win both nights. 

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, GRT Race Cars South Central and EQ Cylinder Heads Southern regional, and KMJ Performance Texas State points will be awarded both nights. Entry fee and non-qualifier money for the Stock Cars on Saturday is $50.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and an open practice runs from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Pit passes are $35. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for ages five and under.
