Williams dominates United Rebel Sprints at 81 Speedway

PARK CITY, Kan. (Sept. 18) – Sixteen cars attended Saturday’s event at 81 Speedway in Park City with the Drive to Zero POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing. The night saw Oklahoma native Ty Williams with a dominating performance over the field from the drop of the green to the checkered. 

Williams also captured the dash win ahead of Jordan Knight, placing them on the front row for the 25-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature event. Williams quickly hurried off the race lead ahead of Knight and Luke Cranston. On lap three, Jeff Stasa advanced to fourth ahead of Jeremy Huish and Texas’ Marcus Thomas. Huish and Thomas both reclaimed their position on lap five. 

With 11 laps complete, the second-running Knight slipped back to fourth behind Cranston and Huish.

Just one circuit later, Thomas moved into position ahead Knight to claim fourth. Lap 15 saw Thomas move into third ahead of Huish as Stasa reclaimed fifth. 

The race completed in the same running order, as drivers navigated many different line techniques to attempt to advance. Williams claimed the victory over Cranston and Thomas on the podium.

Opening night for United Rebel Sprint Series is less than a month away

OBERLIN, Kan. – The Kansas-based United Rebel Sprint Series’ 14th consecutive season is set to kick off in less than a month, with a two-night IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car twinbill at two differ­ent tracks in Kansas. It will all kick off on Friday, April 5, as the tour makes the first of three scheduled appearances at 81 Speedway in Park City for the track’s ninth annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout. The series is excited to become a part of this annual event and with a huge thank you to Precise Rac­ing Products, this event will pay the URSS Friday night winner $800. Then on Saturday, April 6, the tour will head southwest to the beautiful Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City to battle the local Precise Racing DCRP Sprints for their first of six events atop promoter Tommie Estes Jr.’s palace. Bubak sprints to first at Fairbury’s Firecracker Nationals

FAIRBURY, Neb. (July 4) – Independence Day led the Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series to the 1/5-mile bullring of Jefferson County Speedway in Fairbury. A stacked field was on hand for the historic marking, the first time Sprint Cars took to the semi-banked dirt track and three-time series champion Jake Bubak was the victor. Kyler Johnson took off with the early lead with a heated battle for second behind him. Stuart Snyder rocketed ahead into turn three to take the lead on the fifth lap with J.D. Johnson following.  Leaders caught the end of the field before a lap 10 caution. Snyder took off with the lead on the restart, with Bubak, Zach Blurton and J.D. Johnson in the hunt for the lead.  Snyder and Bubak traded slide-job for slide-job for three laps until Bubak claimed the top spot, and he never looked back to grab the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win ahead of Snyder and Blurton.  Feature results – 1. Osborn debut for United Rebel Sprints see Russell earn Budweiser Shootout checkers

OSBORN, Mo. (June 4) – Nineteen IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars were in attendance for Friday’s POWRi Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series debut at Missouri’s US 36 Raceway and Jay Russell was the $1,000 Budweiser Shootout winner.  Russell and Jack Potter set the pace for the 25-lap feature, with Russell powering to the lead before a trio of early cautions.  Excellent side-by-side action followed amongst the top three cars, as Stuart Snyder slid to the high side with Russell and Kenny Potter just to the inside while Ty Williams began his march forward, moving into fourth. Potter and Snyder dueled for the runner-up position behind Russell as Williams and Mike Houseman Jr. challenged for fifth. Potter moved to second and began a charge on Russell before taking the lead.
