IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000, Fast Shafts All-Star ballot berth Saturday at Indee

By Jeremy Fox INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 28, 2022) – After losing last week’s races to the victim of mother nature, it was back to action at the Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday Night for Weekly Points Night. It was Michael Pittman Memorial Night, a night to remember a competitor who lost his life in a work related accident in February.  It was a picture perfect night to wrap up the month of May, that saw 106 race cars sign into tame the 3/8 mile bank race track on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds. They were going two, three and a few times four wide during the night. INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (April 13, 2024) – Troy Cordes was quick to put a tough 2023 season in the rearview. Cordes won the opening night feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds for the record-tying third time Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway. The checkers were also his career 143rd in the class dating back to 1996. “Last year we struggled pretty hard and only won once, at Columbus Junction,” said the Dunkerton driver. “Hopefully we’ll be back on track this season.” Cordes already had opening night trophies from 2000 and 2020 on his mantle. By Jeremy Fox INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (May 1) – The first feature on the Saturday night program at Independence Motor Speedway saw Nate Albrant win his career-first Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main event. Albrant took the top spot early, stayed strong on restarts and held off Brian Kauffman and Tony Olson to take the checkers. Logan Duffy edged veteran Curt Martin for the IMCA Sunoco Late Model victory and Rod McDonald hustled to the IMCA Modified checkers, leading start to finish in the 20-lapper and holding off a tenacious Mike Burbridge. Cole Mather was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner and Luke Bird was best in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock headliner.
