DODGE CITY, Kan. – It was a fast and furious June 4-5 weekend at Dodge City Raceway Park! 

Spectators packed the grandstands, Boot Hill champions sprayed spectacular trophies with celebratory champagne and the Jake Gill band bellowed country and rock ’n’ oll on Victory Lane.

Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod drivers Jacob Olmstead, Tyler Watts and Brendyn Nordyke finished on top of the two-day Boot Hill Championship finale Saturday. So, too, did IMCA Modified feature winner Tanner Black, Bucklin resident Clay Sellard and Kelsie Foley take home the big checkers, the big trophies and spray the cold bubbly.

The Jake Gill band resounded loudly from victory Lane for a Saturday night afterparty. The Hutchinson native and now Tennessee resident sang his new original release Good Time, as well as Light It Up, Grandpa and Dr. Pepper and Baby I’m On It.

While park promoters Craig and Julie Dollansky are pleased with the turnout for their large-scale event at Dodge City Raceway Park, they acknowledge they are still working on a few areas, like increasing staff and speeding up the program, to make things better.

“We are getting people trained quickly and as everyone learns their jobs, all aspects of night racing will come together and the program will flow,” Julie said. “We are very pleased with everything on Saturday night and the racing was great! It was also wonderful to see all the participants on in the kid’s bike race during intermission. Bringing it all together will make Dodge City Raceway Park a fun family destination again.”

Entry forms available for Dodge City Raceway Park Sprint Car Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Dodge City Raceway Park Sprint Car Nationals is expanding from two to three nights in 2019.  And with the June event rapidly approaching, entries are now being accepted for the upcoming third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service-sponsored event.  The $3,000-to-win IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event that could potentially climb to as much as $4,500 with lap money included is set for June 13-15 atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas. The rapidly-evolving event includes the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars along with the United Rebel Sprint Series and Sprint Series of Oklahoma. Dodge City checkers fly again for Sproul

(Aug. 8) – Dakota Sproul made it two in a row in the IMCA Modified ranks Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park.  Sproul held off New Mexico’s Cory Davis after a late caution flag to post his third DCRP win of the sea­son.  After starting sixth, Sproul spent the early going working towards the front as Kevin Gray set the pace.  Sproul made it to second by the fourth lap and then slipped underneath Gray in turns one and two on the sixth round to take command. With Sproul setting sail, Davis made his way forward from the ninth position to take over second at the midway point. And when a caution flew with just six laps to go that nixed Sproul’s ad­vantage, Davis was there to mount a charge. Davis pulled alongside exiting turn four with three laps to go, but Sproul countered and slipped away to secure the victory. Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.  He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. It wasn’t as easy as it may sound, though, as Jason Martin kept the pressure on throughout and briefly slid past Bubak on a pair of occasions only to have the latter successfully counter the move.   Martin first slid past Bubak in turn four momentarily after a lap four restart and then repeated the move in traffic on the 17th circuit.  Bubak successfully navigated past a pair of lapped cars and found open track once again when a final caution with a dozen laps remaining.  Bubak reached [Read More]
