$250 Sunoco bonus on the line Saturday at Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – The payday is increased for the winner of Saturday’s main event for IMCA Sunoco Late Models at Independence Motor Speedway.

The second $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus of the season will be paid to the May 22 Late Model winner at Indee, making the top check a cool $850. 

Sunoco bonuses will be presented at Late Model sanctioned tracks again this year. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the 2021 racing season. Matt Ryan was the first winner of the year last Wednesday at 300 Raceway in Farley. 

IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track. 

The grandstand at Independence opens at 4:30 pm and general admission is $13 for adults, $5 for race fans 6-12, & 5 and under getting in free.

Racing is set to get underway at 6 pm.

Great racing, memories fill Hall of Fame Night at Independence

by Jeremy Fox INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 18, 2022) – Saturday Night Independence Motor Speedway inducted the 2022 Hall of Fame class, including Rick Wendling, Darin Burco and Duane Van Deest for drivers. Special contributors inducted were Burco and Jerry Blue. Burco was the first to be inducted as a driver and contributor. Following a hall of fame meet-and-greet and autograph session, over 100 race teams signed in to tame the 3/8 mile dirt oval on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds. The first feature of the night was the 15 lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod event. Robert Patava grabbed the top spot early, however Kip Siems stole the lead away from Patava on an early restart, Siems led until he slipped up on lap nine allowing Cole Suckow to take over the race lead. Suckow led until lap 13 when Tony Olson took advantage of Suckow leaving the door open. Olson held off Suckow and Siems to take his 35th career win in Independence, his fourth straight win at Indee. Independence Motor Speedway set to open Saturday

By Jerry Mackey  INDEPENDENCE, Iowa  – The 2020 racing season will see its first green flag of the season this Saturday, May 23. The sweet sounds of race cars flying around the 3/8-mile dirt track located on the Buchanan County Fairgrounds will be heard as five IMCA divisions will be in competition.  IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Late Models, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods will all be in action with hot laps scheduled to take to the track at 6 p.m. with racing to follow.   The season opener for 2020 will be very different as the track will open under the Iowa Governor’s restriction due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which means the grandstand will be closed. Each race car entering the pit area will be allowed to be accompanied by 10 persons, the social distancing guidelines will be in effect and cars will be pitted a minimum of six feet apart.   Fans will have the opportunity to watch the night’s racing action by logging on to Done Right TV. IMCA Modifieds, Late Models headline Iowa Donor Network Night at Indee

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win while the IMCA Sunoco Late Models crown a track champion Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway.  The Iowa Donor Network Night event features a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier for the Modifieds while Late Models run for an $860 top check in their 2020 season champion­ship event at Indee. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase a $550 top check, with $500 paid to win in the Karl Kustoms North­ern SportMod feature and $300 to win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Monetary contributions will be paid throughout each feature field. There will be prizes for fans and driv­ers, along with a raffle and bike drawing for kids. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Spectator admission is $13 for adults and $5 for kids. Pit passes are $25.
