BOONE, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds race for $3,000 to win and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $1,000 to win, with All-Star Invitational ballot berths at stake for both divisions this Saturday at Boone Speedway.
The May 1 Hawkeye 100 program also features a $1,000 feature for Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.
Pit passes are $45 and adult admission to the grandstand is $40. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.
BOONE, Iowa – Dates have been announced for two voting sessions to elect 28 of the 30 starters in the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Three drivers from each of the five regions for IMCA Modifieds will be elected in polling conducted between July 23 and 26; another 13 advance from an at-large pool of the next 25 top vote recipients between July 30 and Aug. 2. All voting will be conducted through the IMCA Facebook page. MILTON, Fla. (Aug. 24, 2022) – Jesse Barnhill attended his first IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s last year, in the roles of driver’s dad and crew chief. When he returns to Boone Speedway, he’s hoping to add a new title: Big Dance qualifier. The champion of IMCA’s Gulf Coast Region in 2004 and father of 2021 Dirt Works Eastern Region rookie of the year, Barnhill brings his own Friesen Performance IMCA Modified to the 40th annual Super Nationals with an absolute best case scenario of joining son Owen in the Saturday night main event. “We hope to make the big race and put on a good show,” said Barnhill, who already has the 1,100 mile trip from Milton, Fla., mapped out. “It would mean a lot to both of us. By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 8) – Dylan Thornton prevailed in a 20-lap IMCA Modified feature decided by inches in a mad dash to the finish line that had the crowd on its feet Saturday at Boone Speedway. Three drivers provided most of the action upfront for much of the race as Joel Bushore, in a new ride after his rollover last week, led the field as the race went green. Thornton was quick to join in and then 14th place starter Jimmy Gustin joined in to make it a trio of fun. The closing laps saw the three drivers go at it in a spectacular dash to the finish line. Thornton had just enough momentum coming out of the final corner as the checkers unfurled, taking the win by inches over Gustin. Bushore finished a close third. Thornton, who is from California, is spending the summer back here in Iowa and, ironically enough, staying with second place finisher Gustin.
