Johnson, Schroeder win green to checkered features at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 22) – Both the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature and the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature ran green to checkered Saturday at Arlington Raceway.

Bill Johnson reeled in leader Jeremy Schultz en route to the Sprint checkers while Jason Schroeder raced from the third row at the start in winning his first Northern SportMod main of 2020.

The IMCA Modified feature saw three different leaders with Chad Porter and Clint Hatlestad running up front before Brandon Beckendorf made his move on the white flag lap, edging past Hatlestad to take the lead and the win.

Brett McConnell took the lead on the second circuit and stay in front to the finish of the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event.

Jeff Larson had the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car no one could catch while Cory Probst made his move to the front of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock field the last time around the track.

Hewitt hauls home Arlington hardware

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 21) – Karl Hewitt Jr. clinched the Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock feature Saturday at Arlington Raceway as he led from start to finish. Hewitt was challenged by Cory Probst for 11 of the 12 laps but on lap 10, Probst dived into turn one and spun himself around causing a caution flag. He restarted at the tail and in the following two laps was able to move up to fifth. That caution gave Brad Becker a little breathing room as he challenged Hewitt for the next two laps but had to settle for second ahead of Mike Christensen. Brandon Beckendorf was the MN 93 IMCA Modified winner and Trevor Serbus topped the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature by a straightaway. Rick Mees has gotten back and dirt and got his first B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car victory of the season. Matt Looft scored the Unhinged Pizza IMCA Northern SportMod victory and Scott Porter paced the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact main.

Magers wins 2019 Arlington debut

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 3) – Dalton Magers raced to his third win in as many starts this season, and his first at Arlington in Saturday’s MN 93 IMCA Modified feature. Ryan Bjerkeset was the early frontrunner before Magers took the low side going into turn two and came out ahead going down the backstretch. Brandon Beckendorf from Danube was moving up and waiting to challenge Magers. He had to get around Trent Loverude to do so, but with a couple laps to go in the race Loverude took back his spot and finished second behind Magers. The Alpha Media IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature saw Trevor Serbus get out front and remain the leader for the duration. Dan Mackenthun pulled away and went onto to take the B&B Racing IMCA Stock Car win. Late-race opportunity leads Zuhlsdorf to winner’s circle

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 15) – Opportunity knocked on the door late in the race Saturday night and Kris Zuhlsdorf answered. Mike Kennedy led the first 12 laps of the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature at Arlington Raceway but saw his advantage up front erased by a caution. Zuhlsdorf capitalized, taking the lead following the ensuing restart and driving to the win. Dan Menk led from start to finish of the 20-lap feature for IMCA Modifieds and Michael Stien was the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car winner. Tenth starting Dan Mackenthun topped the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. National point leader Cory Probst paced the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks while Alan Lahr led the way to the Mach-1 Sport Compact checkers.

Jake Smith Holds On to Earn SportMod Glory at Winter Nationals

This win marked Smith’s first triumph during the Winter Nationals, and he faced a challenging path to victory lane. The twenty-lap finale began with North Dakota’s Gabe Deschamp surging to the front from the initial start. Deschamp set a steady pace, but as the race continued, the top three competitors began to cluster together around the midway point. Thompson Outduels Richards to Win Night Three of Winter Nationals

The twenty-lap race began with Thompson leading, closely followed by Dillon Richards in second place. The non-stop feature saw the top two drivers pull away from the rest of the field, racing around the track bumper-to-bumper at time. Heinrich Captures Stock Car Winter Nationals Glory with Last Lap Pass

The veteran driver from Fargo, North Dakota, who started in third position, earned his first career Winter Nationals feature victory. The 25-lap contest kicked off with Heinrich outpacing Gary Pesicka to lead the initial lap. From there, the two drivers engaged in a thrilling cat-and-mouse battle on the 3/8-mile clay oval. Pesicka’s patience paid off when he finally passed Heinrich on the eleventh lap. However, Heinrich refused to let him pull away and regained the lead with ten laps remaining.
