Mroczkowski edges Van Straten for Outagamie checkers

SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 21) – Josh Mroczkowski took the lead with five laps remaining and went on to win the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature by inches over Travis Van Straten at Outagamie Speedway Friday night.

Tyler Wendt raced from the outside pole to the lead on the opening lap. Mroczkowski came to call just past the midway point to take the lead away from Wendt down low. The duo traded the lead over the next few laps with Mroczkowski racing back to the top spot on lap 15.

Mroczkowski moved to the upper groove, which allowed Logan Leary and Van Straten to race three-wide under the leader. As the checkers flew it was a two-horse race of Van Straten and Mrocz­kowski racing to the finish line as the pair came across the stripe in a visual dead heat. Tran­sponder scoring gave the victory to Mroczkowski by a mere .049 seconds. Wendt had his best run of the year to place third.

In IMCA Modified action it was Chase Parker taking command of the race early on as point leader Johnny Whitman raced to the runner-up position with a handful of laps remaining. Whitman raced to the back bumper of the leader.

On the final lap Whitman, threw a slider coming into turn one to take the lead. Parker made the crossover back under Whitman to regain the top, holding it all the way to the checkers.  Whitman had to settle for second at the pay window while Josh Long was third.

Aaron Butterbrodt led all 20 laps on his way to his first Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature of the season. Evan Staeck chased Butterbrodt all the way to the checkers to earn a solid second place.

Matt Brehmer was once again victorious in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Parker, Czarapata perfect at Outagamie

(Aug. 2) – Although Chase Parker led every lap of the IMCA Modified feature Friday at Outagamie Speedway, the race to the checkers wasn’t easy by any means.  Defending track champion Marcus Yarie worked his way from row four to the runner-up position midway through the contest. With five circuits remaining, Yarie dove inside for the lead but lapped track halted his pursuit and Parker picked up his second win of the season.   Travis Van Straten jumped out as the early leader in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars over Jer­emy Wiitala. The duo ran door-to-door for the top spot until Brandon Czarapata made it three-wide.  Czarapata slipped by down low to take the lead on lap five. The battle for second became lively as Josh Mroczkowski and point leader Eric Arneson began to tussle with Van Straten. Mroczkow­ski secured the runner-up spot with five laps remaining.  Although Mroczkowski closed in late it was Czarapta scoring his second feature win of the sea­son. Rookie Ryan Schmidt secured the lead on lap eight and never looked back, cruising to his first career Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature win.  [Read More]

Czarapata gets first Outagamie win of season

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 25) – Friday’s IMCA Modified headliner at Outagamie Speedway started with J.J. Andersen jumping to an early lead as Cody Schroeder and Jason Czarapata gave chase. Czarapata was the first to work the cushion, working his way around Schroeder for second. Czarapata set his sights on Andersen, who was running the tires. Czarapata swept around Andersen and to the lead on lap nine. Schroeder followed suit around the outside, closing right to the back bumper of Czarapata. Schroeder made every move possible but couldn’t find the grip to make the pass. Czarapata scored his first win of the season and a clean sweep to boot. Schroeder had to settle for second at the pay window, Andersen was third. The race went green to checkers. Evan Staeck quickly jumped to the lead in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main. Early cautions allowed Rod Snellenberger and Chas Van Ooyen to close in. Mullen doubles up at Outagamie Speedway

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 30) – Mike Mullen took home top honors in the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features Friday at Outagamie Speedway. Dan Roedl took command early in the Modified main as Tyler Wilson gave chase. Roedl worked the extreme high side to open up a sizable advantage over the field but a caution on nine erased that. As the green flew, Mullen slashed his way through the field, pulling even with Roedl for the lead. A dive bomb from Mullen gave him the number one spot and once there he never looked back, scoring his third feature win of the season. Wilson was second place and Roedl third. In the Stock Cars, it was Mullen jumping to the lead from his front row start. Several cautions kept the field bunched but no one could match the raw speed Mullen had as he easily cruised to victory in his G-Force Chassis.
