Wilinski, Forstner, Schmidt all repeat at Shawano

SHAWANO, Wis. (Aug. 15) – It almost felt like déjà vu all over again Saturday as Konnor Wilkinski, Chucky Forstner and Jayden Schmidt returned to victory lane for the second week in a row at Shawano Speedway.  

Lap one of the IMCA Modified feature saw Kevin Feck go from third to first to lead the field. As Feck led, Wilinski began to work through traffic after starting 10th. A caution after lap six bunched the field up and Wilinski capitalized, going from his third place restart position to the inside of Feck to snag the lead.  

Wilinski did not look back as he drove to his second win of the year.  Feck finished in second and Marcus Yarie raced all the way from 18th to third. 

Jeremie Hedrick would lead the early stages of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature while being pres­sured by Gary Kasperek and Forstner.  The trio went three-wide for the lead on lap four.  Hedrick still held the lead until lap six when Forstner utilized the inside groove to make the pass.

Kasperek slipped past Hedrick to move to second. Kasperek continued to chase Forstner, but it would not be enough as Forstner went on to score his second win of the year. Third went to Mike Schmidt. 

In Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod action, Max Oreskovich led until lap four when the 10th starting Schmidt grabbed the lead. Schmidt quickly set sail and left the rest of the field behind.

Tyler Sobiesczyk raced his way to second on lap 12. Schmidt was just too much, though, as he won his fifth feature. Sobiesczyk and Bryce Clements were net across the stripe.

Block, Van Straten capture first Shawano features of season

(May 29) – The Memorial Weekend brought cool temperatures and hot action to the Shawano Speedway along with the unofficial start of summer. Wyatt Block, Travis Van Straten and Tyler Sobiescyk got their summers off to the best start of everyone with feature wins.  Early action saw Jerry Wilinski jump to the lead in the IMCA Modified main and begin to build a big advantage. The caution would fly on lap four and bring the field to his bumper. On the restart, Wilinski scooted away only to have a debris bring out another yellow.  Block and Andy Karl filled the second row on the lap six restart. Wilinski again extended his lead with Karl and Block fighting it out for the runner-up spot. Block took the second spot and begin to reel in the Wilinski machine at halfway.  On lap 15, Block moved past Wilinski and into the lead. Block cruised to victory with Wilinski second. ‘B’ main to victory lane for Michonski on Hall of Fame Night

(June 27) – The fans that came out in droves for Hall of Fame Night at Shawano Speedway enjoyed a hall of fame caliber performance from Dan Michonski Saturday night.  After qualifying from a ‘B’ feature, Michonski started 17th and hustled all the way to the front of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature field. Lamberies rules Shawano IMCA Modified main

By Joe Orsini SHAWANO, Wis. (May 27, 2023) – Former track champion Lucas Lamberies reigned in Saturday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Shawano Speedway. The main event saw ageless wonder Jerry Muenster start on the pole. When the green dropped, though, outside polesitter Nicholas Holtger launched into the early lead while Jeremie Hedrick put his familiar C19 machine into the runner-up spot. That lead duo set the pace for the first nine laps until caution flew, restacking the field. The ensuing restart had Holtger lead Hedrick, Jordan Bartz, Lamberies and Marcus Yarie back to racing speeds. Lamberies and Bartz wasted no time and worked to the front, where they traded the top spot back and forth with each driver having to run low or high in the door-to-door scrap. Lamberies eventually locked up sole possession of the lead and held on when the double checkers flew.
