Baumli, Bowers continue to add Bethany wins

BETHANY, Mo. (Aug. 1) – Steven Bowers Jr. and J.J. Baumli both continued their winning ways at historic Bethany Speedway Saturday evening.

Bowers has taken control of the IMCA Modified division locally as he chases the national championship, having won all but one feature at Bethany this year heading into the night.

At the start, Mike Dotson took the point and battled Nicholas Carpenter while Bowers started 10th and was working through the pack, bringing Shayne Bailey with him. Out of turn two, Bowers and Carpenter split Dotson high and low and ran three wide all the way down the backstretch and into three.

Bowers came out with the lead and went on to win with Carpenter in second and Dotson third.

Carson Masoner led early in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main, then Blake Peeler took the lead and tried to get away from everybody. Baumli drove to the outside and to the front as Peeler stayed on the bottom.

Baumli picked up win number three this year. Peeler had a strong run finishing second in only his fourth race back and Sam Scott was third.

The Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods have proven to be a who’s who of feature winners this season at Bethany and Tim Eaton quickly moved into the lead on Saturday. 

Tim Stallbaumer worked the bottom while Eaton worked the top. They continued to battle for the lead as a handful of cars raced for third behind them. Austin Charles had restarted at the back but became one of those cars battling. 

One by one, Charles picked off cars on his way to the front of the pack. The checkered came out with Charles on the move, but running out of laps to have a shot. Eaton gave himself a great birthday present with the feature win. Stallbaumer was second with Charles third. 

The next race will be Aug. 22 with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods on the ticket.

2019 drivers’ meeting set for US 36, Bethany

CAMERON, Mo. – The drivers’ meeting for the 2019 season at US 36 Raceway and Bethany Speedway is set for 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at the Cameron Community Center. The drivers’ meeting is combined for both race tracks so drivers can get all their paperwork completed for both tracks if they choose to. The meeting will allow drivers and teams to register their car and reserve pit stalls for the upcoming season. Registration for the 2019 season for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars is $60 and $50 for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods is $50. Pit stalls are $60 to reserve for the 2019 season. The meeting will also include a discussion on the updated 2019 general rules and teams can bring any questions they have. Four IMCA divisions race Saturday at Bethany Speedway

By Chet Querry BETHANY, Mo. – Bethany Speedway returns to action on June 6 with a full night of racing at the Northwest Missouri State Fairgrounds.  The Saturday program features IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.  Opening night of the 2020 season saw records broken with total of 128 cars and drivers traveling from as far away as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Arkansas and Arizona to race on the smooth, fast and always competitive Bethany oval.  There are a lot of local names bringing cars to race and more cars being built. Lap after lap of the best side-by-side racing action is at Bethany Speedway.

Bethany Speedway starts 2021 season on May 22

By Myron Proudfoot  BETHANY, Mo. – Bethany Speedway will open the gates for the fourth straight year in 2021. The same regular divisions will race for the fans, including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kus­toms Northern SportMods. The United Rebel Sprint Series will also make two appearances. After the May 22 race, there will be two races each month in June (5 and 26), two in July (10 and 24), two in August (7 and 21), then September will have races during the Northwest Missouri State Fair on the 5th and 6th and championship night on the 25th. Bethany Speedway reopened in 2018 after 17 years of only having two races in 2010 and Labor Day week­end fair races for that period of time.
