Richardson is best in URSS opener at Bullring Nationals

LaCROSSE, Kan. (July 25) – The POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing took to the Bullring at Rush County Speedway and Steven Richardson maneuvered a last lap pass to claim the night one Bullring Nationals feature win. 

Zach Blurton and Jordan Knight set the pace for the 25-lap feature event for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars. Blurton took off with the early lead. Koby Walters and Jordan Knight fell in behind the race leader. Blurton finessed lapped traffic on lap seven, separating some distance between himself and the runner-up.  

A late race caution saw the field bunched back up. Some confusion on the restart called for mass chaos for front-runners Blurton and Walters. Both took off for the restart but the waving of the green had not yet occurred. Walters and Blurton tangled and restarted at the tail of the field, putting Knight into the top position. 

The green, white, checkered restart was one for the books and found Knight with the lead while Richardson was right there to challenge for the top spot. The two would Richardson got past Knight at the checkered, winning by just .057 of a second.

Connor Atkinson, Tyler Knight and J.D. Johnson rounded out the top five.

URSS set to invade RPM Speedway for Sunflower Classic

HAYS, Kan. – The Mel Hambelton Ford Racing POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series will invade RPM Speedway this Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14 for the Mike Hughes Memorial Sun­flower Classic in Hays, Kan.  This race, originally scheduled for late March, is expected to draw a great field of cars as racing has opened back up in the state of Kansas. Blurton tops URSS finale at Oberlin Bob Salem Memorial

OBERLIN, Kan. (Aug. 14-15) – The runner-up on opening night was the winner on night two, when the Mel Hambelton Ford Racing Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series traveled to Oberlin Speedway for the Bob Salem Memorial. Zach Blurton topped the Saturday show for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars after passing Koby Wal­ters for the front spot on the 14th of 25 circuits. Jake Martens, Walters, Monty Ferriera, and Jed Werner rounded out the top five.  Monty Ferriera took off with the early lead and stretched his advantage to about eight car-lengths before slipping off of the track and passing the lead position to Walters. Lap 14 found Blurton riding around the top of turn two to get past Walters for the lead while Ferri­era worked his way back into fourth. Conn wires field at 81 for first RaceSaver Sprint series win

(June 21) – Tanner Conn took the lead at the start and never looked back to claim the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing and Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products feature Friday night at 81 Speedway. Conn and Steven Shebester started on the front row for the 20-lap feature finale with Conn taking the lead as the green flag fell. Fourth starting Zach Blurton moved into the second position and pressured the young driver but could never get close enough to mount a challenge for the lead. Conn, already a two-time winner this season in IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car weekly action at Lawton Speedway, went on to claim his first-career URSS and SSO victory.  Blurton settled for second while third-starting Jack Potter held on for third.
