Salem Memorial highlights weekend for United Rebel Sprint Series

STOCKTON, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series braces for a huge, three-race weekend with the annual Bob Salem Memorial highlighting all the race action.

It all begins Friday, Aug. 17 at Stockton Speedway before embarking to Oberlin Speedway Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19.

It will be a pivotal weekend for the series points standings as just five events remain in the 2018 race season.

Friday night’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event atop the Stockton Fairgrounds will pay $700 to win. Gates open at 5 p.m. with race action slated for a 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday night for the annual running of the Bob Salem Memorial, the Saturday night’s portion of the event will pay $700 to win while Sunday night pays $1,000 to win. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, kids ages 7-12 are $8 and children six and under admitted into the grandstands for free. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

Conn wires field at 81 for first RaceSaver Sprint series win

(June 21) – Tanner Conn took the lead at the start and never looked back to claim the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing and Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products feature Friday night at 81 Speedway. Conn and Steven Shebester started on the front row for the 20-lap feature finale with Conn taking the lead as the green flag fell. Fourth starting Zach Blurton moved into the second position and pressured the young driver but could never get close enough to mount a challenge for the lead. Belleville, Mayetta events next for United Rebel Sprint Series

By David Smith Jr., OKTidbits OBERLIN, Kan. – A busy holiday weekend is just ahead as the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off Thursday night atop the Belleville High Banks Speedway in Belleville, Kan., before making lone 2019 appearance at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta on Saturday night. The Independence Day special will pay $1,000 to win with $200 for all drivers making the feature finale. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Racing is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start time. Adult general admission tickets are $18 with kids ages 10-17 $10. Cranston tops Dodge City Sprint season opener

(April 6) – Luke Cranston opened the 2019 season at Dodge City Raceway Park by racing to victory lane in the 25-lap Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars vs. United Rebel Sprint Series feature event atop the 3/8-mile clay oval. Cranston gridded the feature inside the third row as Brian Herbert and Koby Walters led the way to the green flag but it was fourth-starter Ty Williams battling into the early lead. Vying for his third DCRP opening night win in the last five years, Williams paced the opening eight rounds before looping it in turn three to hand the lead over to Walters with Cranston on his tailtank. Walters kept Cranston at bay for 10 rounds before Cranston finally found the opening he was looking for in traffic and battled into the lead on the 19th circuit. The Denmark, Wisconsin driver delivered a stellar performance at Central Arizona Raceway, seizing the lead on lap nine and holding off all challengers to take the checkered flag. The race began with Jason Berg asserting himself as the early leader, setting a strong pace through the opening laps. Berkeley wins first career Winter Nationals feature in Stock Car action

The 2023 Winter Nationals champion faced several challenges throughout the race but ultimately fended off the advances of young Texan Cameron Starry. Despite the pressure, Berkeley maintained a consistent pace from start to finish. Starry attempted a few bold moves in the closing laps, but the leader, hailing from Colville, Washington, successfully held him off to clinch this significant win in EQ Cylinder Heads Southern Region action.
