Conn wires field at 81 for first RaceSaver Sprint series win

Tanner Conn led every lap of the June 21 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at 81 Speedway to win a main event co-sanctioned by the United Rebel Sprint Series and the Sprint Series of Okla­homa.

PARK CITY, Kan. (June 21) – Tanner Conn took the lead at the start and never looked back to claim the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing and Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products feature Friday night at 81 Speedway.

Conn and Steven Shebester started on the front row for the 20-lap feature finale with Conn taking the lead as the green flag fell. Fourth starting Zach Blurton moved into the second position and pressured the young driver but could never get close enough to mount a challenge for the lead.

Conn, already a two-time winner this season in IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car weekly action at Lawton Speedway, went on to claim his first-career URSS and SSO victory. 

Blurton settled for second while third-starting Jack Potter held on for third. Brandon Anderson took home the Keizer Wheels hard-charger award, coming from 12th starting to finish sixth.

Next up for the Rebels of the Lucas Oil POWRi URSS presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing will be a pair of events during the Independence Holiday weekend. It will all kick off on Thursday night, July 4, atop the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kan. After taking Friday night off, they then head to Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan., on Saturday, July 5.

United Rebel Sprint Series heads to Dodge City for Saturday showdown

By David Smith Jr., OKTidbits  DODGE CITY, Kan. – The POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks back into racing action this coming Saturday night, June 1 as they make their se­cond appearance of the season at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., in a showdown with the track’s Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car division.   This event will be a tune-up for the upcoming third annual Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals that are set to take place June 13-15.  Brian Herbert will come into the night’s racing action as the current point leader while two-time and defending tour champion Zach Blurton is just four-points behind.  Drivers making up positions three through 10 in the early season point standings include Kade Hagins, Tracey Hill, Aaron Ploussard, Dalton Webb, Martens, Andy Shouse, Steven Richardson and Brandon Anderson.   Twenty-eight drivers competed in that first event back in April at Dodge City and officials expect about that many this weekend for the $700 to win feature finale. Williams wins night one at Wheatshocker Nationals

HAYS, Kan. (July 11) – The United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Rac­ing took on night one of the Wheatshocker Nationals at RPM Speedway Saturday night. A stacked 20-car field was in attendance and Ty Williams was the front-runner.   Shane Sundquist and J.D. Johnson lined up on the front row of the 25-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Shane Sundquist took off with the early lead, but not without Koby Walters eager to grab the top position.  Walters took the top spot and Ty Williams was next to challenge Sundquist for second place. A rim-riding Williams and Walters battled for the lead until lap 15 when Williams claimed the top spot. United Rebel Sprint Series prepares for $1,000 to win events in Central Kansas

OBERLIN, Kan. – The weather has played a major factor in getting the season kicked off for the Drive to Zero POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing. Last weekend’s event was forced to cancel due to damp track conditions. The series looks forward to a doubleheader weekend on tap this Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22.   On Friday, drivers head to “The Bullring” of Rush County Speedway in LaCrosse, Kan., to compete for the $1,000 prize. Friday’s event will pay $200 to start the feature event. The “Bullring” is always a favorite stop on the schedule for drivers and fans alike as the racing is always intense on the ¼-mile speedway.
