Conn wires field at 81 for first RaceSaver Sprint series win

Tanner Conn led every lap of the June 21 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature at 81 Speedway to win a main event co-sanctioned by the United Rebel Sprint Series and the Sprint Series of Okla­homa.

PARK CITY, Kan. (June 21) – Tanner Conn took the lead at the start and never looked back to claim the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing and Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Products feature Friday night at 81 Speedway.

Conn and Steven Shebester started on the front row for the 20-lap feature finale with Conn taking the lead as the green flag fell. Fourth starting Zach Blurton moved into the second position and pressured the young driver but could never get close enough to mount a challenge for the lead.

Conn, already a two-time winner this season in IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car weekly action at Lawton Speedway, went on to claim his first-career URSS and SSO victory. 

Blurton settled for second while third-starting Jack Potter held on for third. Brandon Anderson took home the Keizer Wheels hard-charger award, coming from 12th starting to finish sixth.

Next up for the Rebels of the Lucas Oil POWRi URSS presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing will be a pair of events during the Independence Holiday weekend. It will all kick off on Thursday night, July 4, atop the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kan. After taking Friday night off, they then head to Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan., on Saturday, July 5.

Rebels are bound for Belleville

BELLEVILLE, Kan. – United Rebel Sprint Series regulars and a host of IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car competitors hit the Belleville High Banks on Tuesday, July 3 for a $1,000 to win main event. Defending champion Zach Blurton currently leads the Rebels point standings over Brian Herbert coming into a big week of racing as they will compete Tuesday in Belleville and Saturday night head to Nebraska as the Rebels will hit Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte for the $1,500 to win third annual Ron Williams/Dick (Snoose) Myers Memorial. Blurton collects career 4th Soderberg Memorial win

(Sept. 19) – Zach Blurton added a fourth Jerry Soderberg Memorial Champion­ship win to his resume by topping Saturday’s season-ending DCRP vs. United Rebel Sprint Series feature event atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.  Blurton slid past Kyler Johnson on a lap three restart and led to the finish of the 25-lapper for IMCA Racesaver Sprint Cars for his second Dodge City win of the year and third consecutive win in the season-ender.  After an early red flag, Blurton weathered one more red flag seven laps shy of the checkered flag when Connor Atkinson flipped in turn two. Bubak collects Bob Salem Memorial checkers

OBERLIN, Kan. (Aug. 18) – Jake Bubak continued his winning ways in United Rebel Sprint Se­ries action Friday, topping the 25-lap feature Saturday at Oberlin Speedway’s Bob Salem Memo­rial. The win was good for $700. Bubak took charge from his outside front row starting spot from the onset and began stretching his lead, Jake Martens wrestled second from Mark Walinder on lap four and began the pursuit of Bubak in earnest. Bubak proved he was the master through lapped traffic in the caution-free event as he captured his third feature of the year with the URSS and Martens settled for second. Third went to a rim-riding J.D Johnson as he passed both Jeremy Huish and Zach Blurton coming out of turn four to the checkers. Blurton beating Huish to line as he was caught behind a lapped car. Johnson’s bold move earned him the Keizer Wheels hard charger award as he had started 13th.
