Marshalltown checkers fly for DeFrance

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 24) – Hometown hero Darrel DeFrance got his second win this year when he captured the IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature Friday night at Marshalltown Speedway.

DeFrance was running second to Curtis Glover on lap nine when the leader drove off the track as he exited turn two. DeFrance then held the lead the rest of the way to the finish line to seal his second win at the speedway this year.

Dalton Simonsen finished in the runner-up position and pole sitter Shawn Cooney took third.

Tom Berry Jr. continued his domination at the track this year, taking win number five in the IMCA Modified division. Damon Murty took his third victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Brayton Carter made it three in a row in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Eric Knutson took the trophy home in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

Four IMCA divisions headline five April Frostbuster dates

VINTON, Iowa (March 26, 2024) – It’s the spring version of Iowa Speedweek as four IMCA divisions travel to five different tracks for Wednesday-Sunday, April 3-7 Frostbuster specials. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 and both Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win each night beginning at Independence Motor Speedway, with dates at Stuart Speedway, Marshalltown Speedway and Boone Speedway leading up to the finale at Benton County Speedway in Vinton. Frostbuster champions earn the biggest share of $1,000 point funds and will be eligible for race of champions events at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Berry, Murty, Logue, Richards all record Marshalltown wins

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 21) – Marshalltown Speedway was back in action Friday night, missing only one week of racing due to the area’s devastating derecho. The lights taken down during the storm were replaced with two BOSS LTG Stadium Light Towers and the show went on with KMJ Performance Free Grandstand Night. Tom Berry put on another dominating performance, winning for the eighth time this season in the IMCA Modifieds. Dallon Murty is mastering the High Banks in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, taking his third trip to victory lane. Johnathon Logue took the checkers for the third race in a row in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Braden Richards went back to the winner’s circle in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. $250 Sunoco bonus for Late Model winners in Iowa this weekend

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the winner of a pair of main events for IMCA Sunoco Late Models this weekend. The next two installments of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the July 30 Late Model winner at Marshalltown Speedway and the July 31 Late Model winner at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway, and most recently in Nebraska to Kyle Prauner at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Chase Osborne at Boone County Raceway in Albion, and to Brock Carlson at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk. Jake Smith Holds On to Earn SportMod Glory at Winter Nationals

This win marked Smith’s first triumph during the Winter Nationals, and he faced a challenging path to victory lane. The twenty-lap finale began with North Dakota’s Gabe Deschamp surging to the front from the initial start. Deschamp set a steady pace, but as the race continued, the top three competitors began to cluster together around the midway point. Smith and Taylor Kuehl were the two contenders trying to catch the leader. Thompson Outduels Richards to Win Night Three of Winter Nationals

The twenty-lap race began with Thompson leading, closely followed by Dillon Richards in second place. The non-stop feature saw the top two drivers pull away from the rest of the field, racing around the track bumper-to-bumper at time. As the race approached its final five laps, lapped traffic became a critical factor. Tension escalated when Richards pulled out of line and dove under Thompson as they approached the white flag. Heinrich Captures Stock Car Winter Nationals Glory with Last Lap Pass

By Ben Deatherage (Photo Courtesy of Pixel Boss Productions) Casa Grande, Arizona (January 9, 2025) — Todd Heinrich brought the Central Arizona Raceway crowd to its feet by winning the race to the finish line in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature during the second night of the IMCA TV Winter Nationals presented by Pitt Stop Motorsports. The veteran driver from Fargo, North Dakota, who started in third position, earned his first career Winter Nationals feature victory. The 25-lap contest kicked off with Heinrich outpacing Gary Pesicka to lead the initial lap. From there, the two drivers engaged in a thrilling cat-and-mouse battle on the 3/8-mile clay oval. Pesicka’s patience paid off when he finally passed Heinrich on the eleventh lap. However, Heinrich refused to let him pull away and regained the lead with ten laps remaining.
