Roberts is Super on Saturday at Boone

BOONE, Iowa – Seven of the first 15 drivers elected to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational will make career-first starts when the event hits the track Friday, Sept. 7 at Boone Speedway. First-time All-Stars are Troy Foulger, Chaz Baca, Zachary Madrid, Shane Hiatt, Tyler Frye, Chris Elliott and Austin Wonch. Steven Bowers Jr. was elected to his second All-Star race, Will Ward to his third and Hunter Marriott and Kevin Sustaire both to their fourth. Richie Gustin and A.J. Ward are both in for the fifth time, Ricky Thornton Jr. and William Gould both for the sixth. Thornton, who became a new father earlier this week, had the top vote total among the 139 drivers on the first-round ballot. By Joyce Eisele  BOONE, Iowa (April 10) – Boone Speedway held its season points opener on Saturday night as 171 IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, and for the first time running under the IMCA banner, the IMCA STARS Mod Lites all began their quest for track championships. The IMCA STARS Mod Lites kicked off feature racing with their inaugural IMCA sanctioned 15-lap main event. Jon Braathun led the opening laps, only to have Cody Yaw take over the top spot by lap four.  Yaw’s lead would end just four laps later when he and a lap car collided, bringing out a yellow.  Second running Joel Huggins inherited the lead for the restart,  and would go on to be in command the remaining laps and take the checkers ahead of Josh May. Tenth place starter Randy Bryan crossed the line in third.  However, Huggins was disqualified after a post-race inspection found his body not meeting the spec requirements.  This handed that inaugural IMCA-sanctioned win to Josh May. June 10, 2023 By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 10, 2023) – Boone Speedway held its Hawkeye Challenge, one of the most unique races in the country, pitting six different classes of cars all racing at one time Saturday night. The overall winner was Mike Smith in his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock. The Hawkeye Challenge was run before features and 21 cars were scheduled to start, qualified through track points and through heat racing earlier in the evening. Classes were staggered by lap count, with the lone Sprint Car of Mike Houseman needing to complete 25 laps, the Modifieds 23 laps, SportMods and Mod Lites 22 laps, Stock Cars 21 laps, and the Hobby Stocks 20 laps. When the dust cleared in the race that went non-stop, it was Smith in his Hobby Stock taking pocketing the $1,000 top prize. Other class winners were Josh May in the Mod Lites, Johnathon Logue in the Stock Cars, Jeremy Mills in the Modifieds, Kaylin Lopez in Northern SportMods, and Houseman in the Sprint Car.
