Dodge City Raceway Park returns to racing this Saturday

DODGE CITY, Kan. – At long last, the roar of high horsepower racecars will again fill the air at Dodge City Raceway Park as the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas fires back into action for the first time in 2020 this Saturday night.

After being put on hold for several weeks due to COVID-19 restrictions, the track is now back in action and expecting a large crowd for Saturday night’s opener that gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s tilt is headlined by the Hobby Stock Roundup that offers up a $750 winner’s share in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock ranks with $75 to start the feature.

The event also includes the opening round of championship chase action for the Hambelton Racing DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. 

Admission to Saturday’s Hobby Stock Roundup is $12 for adults with children ages 11 and under free when accompanied by an adult.

Bubak goes back-to-back at Lubbock Wrecker Sprint Ntl’s

DODGE CITY, Kansas (Aug. 22) – The Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing took to the finale of Dodge City Raceway Park’s Lubbock Wrecker Service Sprint Car Nationals on Saturday night. Jake Bubak claimed his second Sprint Car Nationals Championship after prevailing from a three-IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car battle to lead the final five circuits of the 30-lap feature event and earning $5,170 for the three-day weekend. The Hambelton Racing Dash for Cash saw the top-six in combined points from Thursday and Friday’s preliminary events duel for a starting position in the first three rows of the big dance on Saturday night. Jason Martin used the high-side to make a pass on Bubak to win the Dash for Cash, earning him the pole starting position and an extra $300.  Martin and Bubak set the pace for the 30-lap feature event. URSS heads to Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday

By David Smith, Jr., OKTidbits DODGE CITY, Kan. – A busy stretch consisting of two weekends of racing for the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing kicks off this com­ing Saturday night as the tour makes its second trip of the young 2019 race season to Dodge City Raceway Park and another battle with the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprints. Three events have been completed thus far this season with Jake Martens of Fairview, Okla., picking up the season-opening victory at 81 Speedway back on April 5.  The next night the tour made its first trip of the season to Dodge City where track regular Luke Cranston of Ness City picked up the victory.  In the last event held back on May 4, Lincoln, Neb.’s Jason Martin claimed the checkered flag at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte.  Brian Herbert will come into the night’s racing action as the point leader while two-time and defend­ing tour champion Zach Blurton is just four-points behind. IMCA RaceSavers chase big payday at Dodge City Sprint Car Nationals

DODGE CITY, Kan. (Feb. 27, 2024) – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars get top billing and race for a lot of dollar bills at Dodge City Raceway Park’s April 5-6 Sprint Car Nationals. The opening weekend event for the United Rebel Sprint Series sees the winged warriors race in qualifying heats and features on Friday. Last-chance races and a king of the hill pole shuffle for the top eight qualified cars precede the $5,000 to win, minimum $400 to win main event on Saturday. Also on opening night, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $500 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $250 to win. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds chase a $1,000 payday and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility on Saturday. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $500 to win that evening.
