Saturday practice precedes Dodge City season opener

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Activity is picking up around the Dodge City Raceway Park 3/8-mile clay oval with opening night just 10 days away.

But first, an open practice session is on tap for this Saturday, March 24 from 6-9 p.m.

Grandstand admission is free with a $20 fee per person for admittance to the pit area. The practice session is open to all.

Saturday’s practice session precedes the 2018 season opener by seven nights, with the Dodge City Raceway Park season officially getting under way on Saturday night, March 31.

The March 31 season opener will feature a full card of championship racing action including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

The March 31 event fires off at 7:30 p.m. with tickets $15 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.

In total, the 2018 season at Dodge City Raceway Park is slated for 17 nights of action following Saturday’s open practice session.

By Lonnie Wheatley  DODGE CITY, Kan. – Dodge City Raceway Park’s Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP Sprint Car Nationals is little more than two weeks away.  Following an idle weekend at the 3/8-mile clay oval, this Saturday’s tilt will be the final opportunity to get dialed in for the Hambelton Racing DCRP Sprint Cars before the Nationals that take place on Aug. 20-22 as the Sprint Cars have next Saturday, August 15 off in order to finalize preparations for the mega-event. Along with the Sprint Cars, this Saturday’s card includes a full slate of championship chase action including IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.  Racing action gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Bubak is perfect at Dodge City Nationals

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 15) – The Lubbock Wrecker Service DCRP 305 Sprint Car Nationals turned out to be a lucrative venture for Arvada, Colo.’s Jake Bubak. After topping both Thursday and Friday preliminary features, Bubak topped the Triple 8 Trucking Dash for Cash to earn the pole position for Saturday night’s 30-lap championship feature atop the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.  He then led every lap to run his weekend winnings to $6,300 including $1,500 in lap money and the $3,000 feature winner’s share. It wasn’t as easy as it may sound, though, as Jason Martin kept the pressure on throughout and briefly slid past Bubak on a pair of occasions only to have the latter successfully counter the move.   Martin first slid past Bubak in turn four momentarily after a lap four restart and then repeated the move in traffic on the 17th circuit.  Bubak successfully navigated past a pair of lapped cars and found open track once again when a final caution with a dozen laps remaining.  Bubak reached [Read More]

Back-to-Front Challenge returns to Dodge City on Friday night

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Back-to-Front Challenge is back at this Friday night’s Dodge City Raceway Park Driver & Fan Appreciation Night.  And a lucky fan could walk away from the night’s races with an extra $10,000.  The always popular Driver & Fan Appreciation Night continues July 24 at the 3/8-mile clay oval in Southwest Kansas with fans admitted for $5 with a ticket from a driver.  Otherwise, general admission is $12. Drivers and fans alike will be treated to all variety of giveaways throughout the night of racing that includes the Hambelton Racing DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. To cap the evening off, if a selected driver can race from the 20th starting position in his feature event to take the win then a lucky fan holding the winning ticket can win $10,000.  Friday marks the fourth round of championship chase action at Dodge City Raceway Park.
