MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 5) – Marshalltown Speedway held its long-awaited season opener Friday with 143 drivers on hand for racing action.

Logan Duffy found himself in the winner’s circle in taking the 15-lap IMCA Sunoco Late Model main event.  Duffy led all laps on his way to the victory ahead of Curtis Glover.

Tom Berry Jr. made it look easy in the IMCA Modified headliner, taking command early, and pulling away from the field to take the checkered flag.  Jeff Aikey and rookie Jake McBirnie battled it out for position, but it was Aikey making it a runner-up finish.

In the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, it was Damon Murty at the front of the field.  Jeff Mueller was up to challenge quickly and then the two swapped the top spot back and forth several times.  Meanwhile, Steve Meyer had set his ride on the topside and was coming fast.

The final circuits saw all eyes on Meyers as he worked the rim, inching closer to leader Murty. His timing was perfect, gaining the upper hand with a lap to go, keeping it to the flying checkers and the win.

Austin Kaplan led every lap in topping the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main and Kaden Reynolds went home with the season-opening IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win. 

Next up at Marshalltown Speedway will be this Tuesday, June 9, for the Dale DeFrance Memorial and 500th and IMCA Summer Series race.  Also on tap is the Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights IMCA Modified Tour opener.  IMCA Stocks, Northern SportMods and Hobby Stocks will also be competition.  The green flag drops at 7:30 p.m.

Carters collect Dale DeFrance Memorial checkers at Marshalltown Speedway

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 4) – Rain may have delayed the festivities one week, but the celebration was bigger than ever Friday night for the Dale DeFrance Memorial at Marshalltown Speedway. An impressive 177 race teams packed the pits and a standing-room only crowd was on-hand for the sixth annual event, which was postponed from last week due to heavy rain that fell at the track shortly after the program got underway. To say the wait was worth it for the Carter family was an understatement as Cayden Carter and Brayton Carter each earned big paydays for their feature wins. Cayden Carter, driving the Maguire DeJong #30, led all 34 laps to score the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Lauritzen takes thrilling Modified win

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 2) – Two drivers earned their first local victories of the year in the IMCA Modified and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod divisions, while the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks saw repeat winners Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. The 20-lap IMCA Modified feature was up for grabs between three drivers. Tim Ward hustled from 10th starting to the lead by lap seven, only to have Joel Rust and Ronn Laurtizen tag in behind. Rust got the upper hand with six laps left but it was still anyone’s race between Rust, Lauritzen, and Ward as the laps wound down. Lauritzen gained the lead on lap 18 only to have Rust regain it on the white flag lap, but the race the checkers found Lauritzen surging ahead to cross the finish line first.  Rust was the runner-up followed closely by Ward in third. $250 Sunoco bonus for Late Model winners in Iowa this weekend

VINTON, Iowa – Extra money is on the line for the winner of a pair of main events for IMCA Sunoco Late Models this weekend. The next two installments of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonus will be paid to the July 30 Late Model winner at Marshalltown Speedway and the July 31 Late Model winner at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Sunoco bonuses will be presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned tracks in 2021. Drivers are eligible for one bonus during the racing season. Winners so far this year have been Matt Ryan at 300 Raceway in Farley, followed by Sean Johnson at Independence Motor Speedway, Andy Eckrich at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Ron Klein at Dubuque Speedway, and most recently in Nebraska to Kyle Prauner at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Chase Osborne at Boone County Raceway in Albion, and to Brock Carlson at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk.  IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track.
