MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Dale DeFrance Memorial is guaranteed to be one for the history book.
Tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 7 at Marshalltown Speedway, the DeFrance Memorial features the 500th and final event in IMCA Late Model Summer Series history and the first event of the 2020 Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds
IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods complete the season-opening, draw/redraw show on the famed high banks.
“All the connections are there. This will be a great night to honor the entire DeFrance family,” IMCA President Brett Root said. “Darrel DeFrance will be honored for racing at his 500th Summer Series event at his home track in his hometown. Everything is good about this event.”
“The Deery Brothers Automotive Group was title sponsor of the Summer Series for nearly 30 years and deserve much of the credit for its success,” continued Root. “The point fund money they contributed went directly to IMCA racers and we are grateful to the Deery family, particularly Brad, John and Dan, the Deery dealerships and Deery employees for their continued support.”
IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Spark Plugs Sate and track points will be awarded and numerous contingency awards, including high draw, pole, hard charger, hard luck, clean sweep and non-qualifiers, given in all divisions.
The standard Dirt Knights Tour purse will be paid; the Modified feature is also a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier.
Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults and free for kids 10 and under. Pit passes will be $30.
The pit gate opens at 5:15 p.m. and the front gate opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.
