Bound for Boone: Super Nationals experience is Sept. 2-7

BOONE, Iowa – Taking care of what some people might consider little things will make it a better week for all involved at the biggest event on the IMCA calendar.

The IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s is primed for a Sept. 2-7 run at Boone Speedway. Two hundred and fifty drivers have already registered electronically, part of the process designed to streamline the 37th annual event.

“Registration is very important. Purchasing an IMCA license if you have not done so is important. Having a MyRacePass account set up before the event is important,” IMCA President Brett Root summarized. “MRP wants to use a hard card system and scanner to register drivers, so they should get an MRP account and establish an MRP identity before they get to Boone.”

“We are doing our best to streamline the sign-in process for all divisions,” he added. “One thing we can’t automate is the process to determine race of champion qualifying eligibility. That will continue to be part of the process that takes time.”

Modified, Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod drivers are required to pre-register (as are Sport Compact drivers) to compete in the Aug. 31 Prelude special at Boone.

“We want to make the Super Nationals experience as enjoyable as possible for drivers and fans, and there are a lot of little details that go into doing that,” Root said. “Super Nationals is America’s Racin’ Vacation and we don’t want overlooking any of those details to detract from anyone’s Super Nationals experience.”

After the Saturday Prelude, Cody Hicks returns to perform on Sunday. Daily race schedules will remain the same, barring inclement weather.

“Hopefully we’ll have better luck with the weather this year. Both the Late Model and Sport Compact programs were rained out last year,” Root said. “Both divisions have loyal drivers and fans and we will do the best we can again this year to get their races in.”

The Deery Brothers Summer Series Late Model show headlines opening night at Boone while Sport Compacts are on the Sept. 3 card. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational is Sept. 6.

Races of champions and main events for the Modifieds, Stock Cars, Northern SportMods and Hobby Stocks are on Sept. 7.

While the camping area at the speedway has been expanded and some teams stay in their haulers, overnight accommodations in Boone and the surrounding area remain at a premium.

Root recommends making hotel/motel reservations as soon as possible.

And for those who can’t attend, IMCA.TV will broadcast the Prelude and the complete week of Super Nationals.
