Dulin scores second straight Stock Car win at Maquoketa

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 4) – The streak has started.

Terry Dulin raced through the GRE / REV Chassis IMCA Stock Car field Saturday evening at Maquo­keta Speedway and picked up his second consecutive 15-lap victory.

“The track is fast and this car really stuck,” Dulin said in Hoker Trucking/C&W Trucking /Kam Wraps Victory Lane. “We knew Dustin (Vis) would be coming and we’re sorry he broke, but it’s always fun to race here and especially win.”

Vis sped from the tail to second, but pulled to the infield with issues late in the race. Dulin took the lead from Jimmy Comins on lap six as the top six all were within a few car lengths.

Jeff Larson started seventh, used both the high and low grooves, and pointed the way in the QCJeeps.com IMCA Modified 20-lap feature.

Tyler Soppe made the late race pass on Justin Becker to win the B&D Pit Stop IMCA Northern SportMod 15-lap finale. 

Dakota Simonsen won his second career Shawn’s Auto Service IMCA Hobby Stock 15-lap main, but his first in two years.

Action continues on the 3/8-mile, dirt oval this Saturday, May 11, highlighted by the Andover Meat IMCA Late Models season opener.

Diercks, Thornton nab Nippy 50 feature wins

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (March 29-30, 2024) – Two nights of Nippy 50 racing at Maquoketa Speedway yielded season-first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature wins for Spencer Diercks and Dylan Thornton. Both drivers were in and out of the front spot before taking the checkers in their respective main events, Diercks in Friday’s $1,500 to win show and Thornton in the $2,500 to win headliner on Saturday. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Diercks built up a two second advantage before a lap 15 caution slowed the opening night feature. He’d swap the lead with Jacob Hobscheidt from that point before finally nailing the spot down for good with two laps left. “It was a good way to start the season,” said Diercks. “Jacob is pretty good and he gave me a run for my money. Maquoketa, Dubuque Deery events postponed

MAQUOKETA, Iowa (April 13) – Forecasts calling for less than pleasant temperatures Saturday and Sunday have resulted in postponements of Deery Brothers Summer Series events at Maquoketa Speedway and at Dubuque Speedway. Both IMCA Late Model tour events are to be rescheduled. The 33rd annual Deery Series now opens at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton with a $2,000 to win, minimum $300 to start main event next Saturday, April 20.  Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m.  Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students and free for kids ages 12 and under when accompanying a paid adult. Garnhart speeds to IMCA Modified checkers at Maquoketa 

By Rob Hinckley MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 19) – Bryce Garnhart kept rolling Saturday night at Maquoketa Speedway, speeding to the QCJeeps.com IMCA Modified 35-lap special feature win and cashing the $1,000 check that went with it. The victory was Garnhart’s fourth straight to start the 2018 season at the Jackson County Fairgrounds speed plant. The new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier held off a hard charging Ray Cox Jr., who was racing the top groove from deep in the field. “I knew he was coming,” Garnhart said. “I searched around there at one point with lapped traffic coming. I was like ‘the top ain’t too bad so I might run up there.’ It’s hard to give up the bottom when you got the lead.” Garnhart won his heat, picked number one on the redraw and led every lap.
