Park Jefferson’s Defroster canceled

JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 1) – A former track champion in the Stock Car division was the Art­works Graphics IMCA Modifieds feature winner Saturday at Park Jefferson Speedway.  Chris Mills was able to benefit from a front row starting spot and jump to an early lead, ultimately winning by a margin of four seconds. Mills was chased by R.J. Merchant, who has found a lot of speed over the past few weeks, while Jay Noteboom was third. In the Stevenson Hardware IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Dusty Ballenger came flying from eighth with point leader Brant O’Banion in tow as the drivers from the fourth row were able to slide around the smooth racing surface to race into the lead. (May 7, 2022) – Buoyed by Cody Thompson claiming the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory to lead a top-four sweep, Sioux City was well-represented on the top finishers list on the Saturday, May 7, program at Park Jefferson International Speedway. Thompson led fellow Sioux Citians Bob Moore and R.J. Merchant and South Sioux City native Ricky Stephan among the local racers in the Modified main.  David Miller and Tyler Smith kept the theme going with a one-two River City finish in IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.The remaining victors for a beautiful early May evening were Devon McMartin, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods; Elijah Zevenbergen, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars; and Anthony Clark, Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts.  The Rushmore Racing Tour featuring the IMCA divisions is on the docket Saturday, May 14. JEFFERSON, S.D. – On Saturday, May 8, Park Jefferson International Speedway celebrates the life of Speedway founder Ted Carlson. Carlson was instrumental in turning Park Jefferson into an auto racing facility back in 1986 along with a team of others. In honor of his passing, Park Jefferson invites all to celebrate the Ted Carlson Memorial race sponsored by Zeitner and Sons. IMCA Modifieds, J&J Fitting IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Z98 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods are on the card and every division’s winner will receive a special payout ending in 86 in honor of the year 1986 when Park Jefferson began racing automobiles. Modifieds will run for $1,086 along with a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth and Stock Cars and SportMods both run for $486 to win. Fans can also participate by wearing their vintage Park Jefferson T-shirts, hats and coats.
