Racing resumes Saturday at Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. – After being off for three and a half weeks due to the county fair, Ventura Raceway returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 25.

IMCA Modifieds are back after 22 cars showed up at the fair when Danny Lauer took win in front of a sold-out crowd.  Donald Houghton is the current points leader with Luis Espinoza close behind in second and Trevor Fitz right behind in third.

Grandstand admission is adults, $15; seniors, military and students $11; and kids 12 and under are free. For further information, call 805 648-7223.

Ventura opening night honors go to Lauer

VENTURA, Calif. (March 16) – Danny Lauer was the winner of a fast and furious 20-lap IMCA Modified main event to open the season at Ventura Raceway. Austin Grabowski led laps one and two before Lauer took control and stayed in front to the finish, taking the win over 2018 track champion Trevor Fitzgibbon, who drove from the back of the field to finish second. Following Lauer and Fitzgibbon across the line were Dave Phipps, Austin Grabowski and Jack Parker.

Defending champ takes Ventura victory

VENTURA, Calif. (June 8) – Defending champion Trevor Fitz-Gibbon was the IMCA Modified feature winner Saturday at Ventura Raceway. The 20-lap main event was very competitive race and saw Scott Olsen lead laps 1-8.  He was passed by Austin Grawboski on lap nine. Grabowski led to lap 18, when Fitz-Gibbon passed him and went on to take the win.  Following Fitz-Gibbon to the line were Grabowski, Jack Parker, Andrew Greiman and Luis Espinosa. After the race, Grabowski failed to go to the IMCA claim area and was disqualified. After five races in 2019, Fitz-Gibbon leads Parker by six points.

Ven­tura County Fair race is Wednesday

VENTURA, Calif. – IMCA Modifieds are on the Wednesday night program at the Ventura County Fair, racing for $800 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Race Cars Western Region, California State and track points will be awarded at the Aug. 1 show at Ventura Raceway. Modified teams are asked to arrive as close to 9:30 a.m. as possible to line up along the street to get the best possible spots as they are given on a first come, first serve basis. Drivers will be allowed to pit with their rigs as long as space is available; anyone lining up earlier than 9:30 a.m. will be turned away. Pit passes are $40 for members and $50 for non-members, with a car entry of $20. Crew members must also purchase a pit pass.
