OBERLIN, Kan. (Aug. 18) – Jake Bubak continued his winning ways in United Rebel Sprint Se­ries action Friday, topping the 25-lap feature Saturday at Oberlin Speedway’s Bob Salem Memo­rial.

The win was good for $700.

Bubak took charge from his outside front row starting spot from the onset and began stretching his lead, Jake Martens wrestled second from Mark Walinder on lap four and began the pursuit of Bubak in earnest.

Bubak proved he was the master through lapped traffic in the caution-free event as he captured his third feature of the year with the URSS and Martens settled for second. Third went to a rim-riding J.D Johnson as he passed both Jeremy Huish and Zach Blurton coming out of turn four to the checkers.

Blurton beating Huish to line as he was caught behind a lapped car. Johnson’s bold move earned him the Keizer Wheels hard charger award as he had started 13th.

In victory lane after receiving his winning custom plaque, Bubak signed the plaque and gave it to URSS and the Memorial race promoter Rick Salem in honor of Rick’s dad, Bob. Shortly after the checkers waved, the rain started and didn’t stop until around 9 a.m. the following morning, forcing track officials to cancel the scheduled night two of the event.

Rebels are bound for Belleville

BELLEVILLE, Kan. – United Rebel Sprint Series regulars and a host of IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car competitors hit the Belleville High Banks on Tuesday, July 3 for a $1,000 to win main event. Defending champion Zach Blurton currently leads the Rebels point standings over Brian Herbert coming into a big week of racing as they will compete Tuesday in Belleville and Saturday night head to Nebraska as the Rebels will hit Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte for the $1,500 to win third annual Ron Williams/Dick (Snoose) Myers Memorial. Snyder scores big at Bethany in URSS Budweiser Shootout

BETHANY, Mo. (June 5) – The POWRi Drive to Zero United Rebel Sprint Series Presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing debuted at yet another Missouri facility on Saturday. The $1,000 to win Budweiser Shootout feature event at Bethany Speedway was action-packed with several position changes and it was Lincoln, Neb.’s Stu Snyder claiming victory.   Jacob Dye and Mike Houseman Jr. set the pace for the 25-lap feature. The initial start resulted in hard contact between several cars and Chad Salem flipped into turn one. A complete restart saw Houseman taking off with the early lead, followed by Dye and Snyder. Snyder took over second while Ty Williams began his march forward from ninth starting. Snyder soon went on to take the lead around the bottom with Houseman keeping a steady pace in second. Traffic assists Blurton in season-opening URSS victory at Salina

(May 23) – Two-time and defending tour champion Zach Blurton picked up right where he left off last season, taking advantage of late-race lapped traffic to capture the exciting season opener for the Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing opened their 2020 race season in front of a near-capacity crowd at Salina Speedway on Saturday night.  J.D. Johnson and Blurton started on the front row for the 25-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car fea­ture with Johnson taking the lead as the green flag fell. Johnson kept Ty Williams behind him for the first several laps before Blurton passed Williams for second on lap five.
