Season championship night at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 26, 2022) – It was North 3rd Avenue Dairy Queen Larry Wollam Memorial and Season Championship night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday.  Seven classes were in competition that provided a full night of racing action at the High Banks. There were out-of-car introductions of the drivers on the front stretch to allow the fans to show their appreciation to the drivers who entertained them all year long. The first eight in points in each class were locked in and they would start inverted for their feature. The rest of the field was filled in by their finishing order from heats. The first feature to hit the track was the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Their feature went 15 laps and was led from start to finish by Cory Sonner. Ward and Lopez find victory lane at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 19, 2022) – There was a threat of rain and ominous clouds all around but Marshalltown Speedway avoided the shenanigans and racing went on as usual on Friday night. Karl Kustoms Night at the Races saw Tim Ward win for the first time this year in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Steve Meyer made it win number two on the year when he saw the checkers first in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Kaylin Lopez finally put it in victory lane when he won the Friesen Performance  IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  Bradly Graham chalked up his second win of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Randy Bryan won his fifth feature in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Peterson picks up first Marshalltown win of season

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 15, 2022) – Racing returned to Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night for the Minute Man Printing Presents the Central Iowa Fair Races. Dallon Murty returned to victory lane in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Michael Jeannette got his second win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Travis Peterson saw his first winner’s circle visit in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Eric Knutson repeated in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Dillon Raffurty took first in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites, and Kolby Sabin won the MACH-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature. The Northern SportMods took to the track first for their 20-lap feature. Thursday Dale DeFrance Memorial to feature four IMCA divisions

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 5, 2022) – Four IMCA divisions are on the Thursday night card for the fifth annual Dale DeFrance Memorial at Marshalltown Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and $200 to start along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility on July 7 while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $750 to win and $155 to start, plus B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods run for $600 to win and $150 to start, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 to win and $95 to start.  Feature winners receive certificates from Performance Bodies and a case of oil. Hard luck drivers get certificates for drive shafts courtesy of Fast Shafts. Murty scores again, Meyer wins first of season at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 1, 2022) – It was Capital Sign Company Night at the Races at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday evening and over 130 cars filled the pits for a full night of racing.  Dallon Murty put his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified in victory lane again and it was Steve Meyer going to the winner’s circle in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Jenae Gustin got a popular win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and John Watson took the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock victory.  Joe Glick won the IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature and Kolby Sabin had the field covered by a big margin in the IMCA Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Twenty-three drivers were on hand for the STARS Mod Lites. They ran a 20 lap feature that paid $100 just to start, thanks to an anonymous donor. Rust dominates and Damon Murty takes rich win while Graham earns first Marshalltown checkers

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 24, 2022) – It was Drury Automotive and Truck Repair Night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday evening with extra money on the line for the IMCA Stock Cars and the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. While Joel Rust took a dominant win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Damon Murty went home $1,000 richer with his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win and Randy Bryan took the $350 IMCA STARS Mod Lite checkers.  Sam Wieben captured his first win of the season in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Bradly Graham took his first trip to victory lane at Marshalltown in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock division. Logue logs first IMCA Modified win at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 27, 2022) – It was a full night of racing at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night, with Johnathon Logue taking the checkers in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified class for his first career win in the division. Damon Murty got back to his winning ways and won the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. It was Brayton Carter with the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event and John Watson captured the top spot in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. The IMCA STARS Mod Lites had one of their Corn Belt Clash races and it was Justin Kinderknecht making his trip over from Kansas pay off and went home $500 richer. Kyle Olson KO’s Friday foes at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 20, 2022) – After a Wednesday night special, the Marshalltown Speedway was right back into action on Friday for night number two of regular weekly points racing.   Dallon Murty topped the field in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Kaden Reynolds was the winner in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Kyle Olson made it two in a row in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division, Eric Knutson paced the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Randy Bryan saw his first trip to victory lane in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Bryan fought his way past Joel Huggins on lap eight of the 15-lap main event for the STARS Mod Lites, then held off the competition to score his first win at Marshalltown Speedway this year. IMCA STARS Mod Lites have May 27-29 Cornbelt Clash dates

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 23, 2022) – IMCA STARS Mod Lites race for $500 to win each night of their Cornbelt Clash tripleheader over the Memorial Weekend. Features Friday, May 27 at Marshalltown Speedway, Saturday, May 28 at Boone Speedway and Sunday, May 29 at Stuart Speedway all pay a minimum of $100 to start. Yoshimura bonuses of $250, $150 and $100 will be paid to top three eligible finishers on Sunday; hard chargers each night also receive a certificate for a STARS plated tire from Hooser. Entry fee is $30 and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded each night. Pit gates open at 5:15 p.m. and racing is at 7:30 p.m. at Marshalltown. Hollatz, Berry are midweek winners at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 18, 2022) – Two IMCA drivers with a knack for coming up big when bigger checks are on the line did so again during a rare Wednesday night show at Marshalltown Speedway. Tom Berry and Chanse Hollatz both took rich checkers during Castrol FloRacing Night in America at the fabled High Banks.  Berry’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory was his fourth $1,000 victory since April 10; Hollatz has now banked $1,000 following six of his 2022 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car wins.  Richie Gustin looked to be poised to take the checkers in the 20-lap Modified feature, leading from the drop of the green as he out distanced Berry and Cayden Carter.
