Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour opener moves to Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – With hopes that the third time will be a charm, opening night for the Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour moves to Marshalltown Speedway. Traveling IMCA Modifieds race for $2,000 to win their Tuesday, June 4 main event. A Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth is at stake, as are IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region, E3 Spark Plugs State and special series points. Also on the midweek program are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, chasing $500 top checks, and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks in a $300 to win feature. Olson scores first Marshalltown win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 3) – Kyle Olson made his first visit to Marshalltown Speedway’s victory lane on Cliff Chambers Memorial Friday night. The Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods ran 18 laps and in the end it was Olson weathering the yellow flags to take home the win. Olson started sixth but had command of the race by the time lap three was scored. From there on he remained as captain of the ship, capturing his first win ever at the speedway. Brayton Carter had a good showing as he finished as the runner-up after starting back in 16th. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event went flag to flag with David Rieks leading all but that opening lap on his way to victory. Thornton doubles up at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 26) – Ricky Thornton Jr. bested both the IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Tony Hofbauer took the lead in the Modified main and kept hold of it until Joel Rust ran him down at halfway. Rust was looking strong but soon had Tim Ward and then Thornton bearing down on him. Thornton slipped into second and set his sights on the leader. He then made a slide job work with four laps left in the contest to nab the lead. Thornton sailed home to the win, Rust took second and Ward was third. Jarred Daggett led the Stock Car troops in the opening laps only to have Jeff Mueller dig his way to the lead on the bottom at lap three. Ward rewarded with opening night win at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 19) – Tim Ward saw his efforts rewarded with the opening night IMCA Modified feature win Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Troy Cordes led the troops when lap one was scored, with Jimmy Gustin hot on his tail and Ward closing the gap quickly as well. Ward made his way into the lead at lap six, kept it and pulled away in the closing laps to take the comfortable win. Gustin followed from a distance in second, and Cayden Carter came from starting 10th to score third place honors. Steve Meyer got the lead back from Jeff Mueller, then held off Ricky Thornton Jr. for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers. Marshalltown postpones Bill Davis Memorial

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Marshalltown Speedway’s inaugural Bill Davis Memorial, scheduled for tonight (Thursday) at the famed High Banks has been postponed to July 11 during the Central Iowa Fair. The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season opener will be pushed back a week to Friday, April 19. “Due to cold temperatures and the amount of rain we have received, it will make it impossible to get the track ready,” explained promoter Toby Kruse. “It’s always hard to cancel an event but we want to make sure our fans and racers have the best experience when they come to Marshalltown.” On the card next week at IMCA’s longest sanctioned track will be IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods.

Stuart Frostbuster now canceled, Marshalltown, Boone dates still on

STUART, Iowa – Both the Wednesday, April 3 practice night and Thursday, April 4 IMCA Frostbuster at Stuart Speedway have now been canceled. Rain in the forecast, a lack of drying time and a frozen water line share the blame. Marshalltown Speedway hosts the Friday, April 5 show and Boone Speedway hosts the Saturday, April 6 finale. Gustin motors to Marshalltown World Nationals win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Sept. 14-15) – Richie Gustin took the lead at the drop of the green and 50 laps later took home the biggest share of green from Marshalltown Speedway’s 12th annual World Nationals. Gustin outran Jordan Grabouski for Saturday’s $10,000 IMCA Modified payday. The outside pole starter was fast from the onset, getting the lead back after Grabouski enjoyed a brief stay at the front of the field, and then pulling away after the final restart with two laps to go. Already on the ballot for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, Gustin got the victory ahead of Grabouski, Cayden Carter, Tim Ward and former World Nationals winner Benji LaCrosse. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Sept. 10) – Marshalltown Speedway wraps up 2018 with one of the top-paying events for IMCA Modifieds of the season. The $10,000 to win World Nationals special is Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 13-15. The 12th annual event is a qualifier for the 2019 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. MCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $1,000 to win while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks race for $500 to win both Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15. Eckrich outruns Deery pack for Marshalltown checkers

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 5) – After he kept the pack behind him, Andy Eckrich picked up the top check from Marshalltown Speedway’s Steve Priske Miller Lite 50 Deery Brothers Summer Series show. Eckrich led the last 48 of 50 laps in earning the $2,000 victory Tuesday night and pocketed another $400 in bonus money from Rumours Bar and Grill for winning his heat and the main event. “We got going pretty early but I figured the pack of wolves would be coming,” said Eckrich, who set sail after the final caution came out on the 14th circuit. “I got into traffic around lap 30 and with six to go caught up with four lapped cars that were racing hard.
