Marshalltown postpones Bill Davis Memorial

Night at the Races Friday and Jake McBirnie raced to the $2,000 Highbanks After the Creek IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win on at Marshalltown Speedway.  Jake McBirnie led the field to green for the contest and that was all she wrote, as he paced all 30 laps on his way to victory lane and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star qualifying eligibility. McBirnie was chased most of the distance by Chelsea Charger Damon Murty, but on this night Murty had to be satisfied with the runner-up spot. By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 9, 2023) – Todd Shute came away with back-to-back wins in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Jay Schmidt got win number one of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts kicked off feature racing with their 15-lap “A” main. Kolby Sabin led from the drop of the green to take his third win of the year.  He was chased most of the way by Terry Bickford who crossed the finish line in second.  However, Bickford was disqualified in the post-race inspection. This handed second spot over to Matt Miller, and Mitchell Bunch was third in a close one at the line. Fourth was Larry Werner and rounding out the top five was Chad Larson. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks ran 20 laps for their feature event and it was Calvin Dhondt taking the checkers. Dhondt started ninth and ran down early leader Sam West. By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 4) – After four straight weather outs, Marshalltown Speedway came back to life on a beautiful Friday night and new winners found their way to victory lane in the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Mach-1 Sport Compacts.  The Modifieds ran their 20-lap main event caution free.  Pole sitter Jake McBirnie led flag to flag on his way to victory.  He was challenged most of the distance by Ethan Braaksma but to no avail, with Braaksma taking the runner up spot. Trailing a distant third was Dylan Thornton. Eric Knutson took the lead on lap one, weathered the yellow flags, and led all laps to capture the Hobby Stock win. Eleventh place starter Kaden Reynolds made it interesting in the closing laps, but had to be content with a close second place finish. Carter Koop came from 12th to finish third.
