Beast of the East Showdown Delivers Full Slate of Mod Lite Action in 2025

By Ben Deatherage BREWERTON, N.Y. (Aug. 21, 2025) — For the first time in its young history, the Beast of the East Showdown for the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites was completed in full, with all scheduled race nights run and 36 drivers from six states and two Canadian provinces taking part. After rain claimed two of the three scheduled races in the inaugural 2024 edition, the 2025 Showdown bounced back with a three-race points-paying slate. The addition of Weedsport Speedway helped fill out the weekend, and the expanded schedule drew a deep and competitive field that kept fans on their feet all weekend long. The New York contingent defended their home turf in the opener on Friday, August 15, at Brewerton Speedway, where Justin Williams scored the victory over fellow Empire State drivers Zack Babcock and Matt Kitts. The following night, Saturday, August 16, Jaedon McDowell of Tennessee broke up the homestate dominance by claiming the win at Fulton Speedway. Fulton to crown first IMCA STARS Mod Lite track champ

FULTON, N.Y. (Feb. 24, 2023) – Fulton Speedway will crown its first IMCA STARS Mod Lite track champion this season. Five race dates, four of them on Saturday nights, will complement Friday shows at sister track Brewerton Speedway. “We have had a dedicated and devoted group of drivers in this division the last few years. The Fulton dates give them the chance to race for a track championship as well as more opportunities to race for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national and state points,” said Cory Reed, promoter of the two north central New York speed plants. Mod Lites had run at both venues before Brewerton began sanctioning the division full-time in 2021; Fulton has hosted three sanctioned races each of the last two years.  Following their Friday, April 28 opener, the IMCA STARS Mod Lites run Saturdays May 13, June 10, July 29 and Aug 12 at Fulton. They are also on the card for the Outlaw 200 special on Sept. 28, the weekend after the 2023 point season ends.  Seventeen Friday dates [Read More]

Brewerton, Fulton are first NY tracks to sanction IMCA STARS Mod Lites

BREWERTON, N.Y. – The newest IMCA division is new to race programs at two New York speedplants.  Brewerton Speedway hosts 15 Friday night dates for the STARS Mod Lites beginning May 14 through Sept. 3. Fulton Speedway, half an hour to the west, features the class as part of May 22, June 12, July 24 and Aug. 21 Saturday shows. The STARS Mod Lite sanctions are the first in the state announced by IMCA. “Our drivers asked us to sanction with IMCA so they could run for points,” explained Cory Reed, promoter at both tracks, located in the north central New York. “Some of our teams had traveled to out-of-state races to chase STARS points last year.”  Mod Lites had run 20-plus years on the 1/3-mile clay oval at Brewerton and at specials on the 3/8-mile clay at Fulton. Reed likes both the unique appearance and economics of the division and hopes the combination of IMCA sanctioning can boost car count numbers for both weekly and special events.  “These cars have a different look than [Read More]
