Modified checkers fly for Hiatt at Eagle

(Aug. 8) – They battled tooth and nail the last five times around the track and when the IMCA Modified checkers flew Saturday at Eagle Raceway it was Shane Hiatt first across the stripe. Nate Thompson and Brandon Spanjer took turns at the front of the field before Hiatt gained the front spot with eight laps left. Mike Densberger raced his way to second before that late caution set up the five-lap battle. Hiatt held off Densberger, with Spanjer third and Jordan Grabouski fourth. Doug Lovegrove saw his first pass for the lead negated by a caution, then made the move back to the front two laps later and topped the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Ryan Gilland led the last nine circuits in winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature, Matt Andrews was the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victor after edging ahead of Trevor Noonan late in the contest and Brian Cronin was best in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event.

Gullion gets RaceSaver Sprint win at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 1) – Adam Gullion became the ninth different IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car winner in as many events this season Saturday at Eagle Raceway. The fifth different leader Gullion saw his first pass for the front spot negated by a caution. He was not to be denied, however, and took the lead on the ensuing restart. Gene Ackland got past Jordan Grabouski two laps later and Jason Danley also passed him with three to go making the final top four in the evening’s finale Gullion, Ackland, Danley and Grabouski. After taking the lead with nine laps to go, Johnny Saathoff took the IMCA Modified feature win. Following a first-lap restart, Saathoff worked his way into the top four and set his sights on the front spot. Mike Densberger was the runner-up and Grabouski rallied from an early entanglement to end in third. Albert Kiihne collected the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers, Adam Vrbka paced the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Josh Young was the Mach-1 Sport Compact winner.

Jaxon Saathoff tops Eagle Modified main

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 25) – Jaxon Saathoff moved to the front with six laps left in winning Saturday’s IMCA Modified main event at Eagle Raceway. Anthony Roth made his way to second while Aaron Pella led much of the way before ending in third. Defending national champion Jordan Grabouski rounded out the top four. Doug Lovegrove led from lap two to the checkers in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature and Jeff Ware scored another IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock victory. Cole Wayman used a restart to his advantage in taking the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod lead and eventual win. Ray Harrington topped the Mach-1 Sport Compact main.

Carter collects Eagle IMCA Hobby Stock checkers

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 18) – After he was in and out of the lead, Dave Carter stood in victory lane following Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature at Eagle Raceway. Carter got the front spot for good on the 12th circuit and led Michael Hansen and Tyler Jackson across the stripe. Jordan Grabouski motored to the front of the IMCA Modified field with five laps to go and paired that victory with a runner-up finish to Jason Danley, who earned the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car victory with a last-lap pass. Matt Andrews was the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod winner and Tyler Masek topped the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event. Next weekend is Junior Fan Club Salute, presented by Colby Ridge. All fans 12 and under receive free front gate admission. Front gates open at 5 p.m. with adult admission being $12. Hot laps start at 5:45 with racing at 6:30.

Sluka stars Saturday at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 11) – Roger Sluka led start to finish in winning a fast-paced Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main event Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Sluka brought the 5S back to the flag stand first with Rich Flock, James Hines and Bobby Draper rounding out the top four. Lap three saw Braydon Latture race into second with Mike Scheinost taking third and Draper holding onto fourth. Derek Hall passed Draper on lap nine and Scheinost got past Latture for second two laps later, but Latture got the spot back after another two circuits with Shawn Harker jumping up to third. Harker got past Latture after two more rounds as Arie Schouten moved into fourth. Harker dropped out with just three to go making the final top four Sluka, Schouten, Latture and Brian Baker. Clint Homan topped the IMCA Modified feature and Jeff Ware continued his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock winning streak. Svoboda sails at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 4) – Austin Svoboda took advantage of an early restart, getting the lead and eventually the Saturday night IMCA Modified feature win at Eagle Raceway. Anthony Roth took over second late in the contest, with Clint Homan and Aaron Pella rounding out the top four. Cole Wayman won for the second straight week in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Jeff Ware notched another IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock victory with a huge run to the front on the final circuit. Josh Young led every lap of the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature. Trevor Grossenbacher got the lead with seven laps left and held off Jason Danley for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car checkers.

Wayman handles Eagle SportMod foes

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 27) – Cole Wayman got the lead on lap seven and drove to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod checkers Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Wayman had cracked the top four on the fourth circuit and the top three the next time around. The final caution of the Star Spangled Showdown show came with six laps left and while Matt Andrews was the mn on the move, he had to settle for third behind Wayman and Mike Scheinost. Toby Chapman was the fourth and final leader in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature, beating Adam Gullion and Ryan King to the checkers. Other winners were Jordan Grabouski in the IMCA Modifieds, Jeff Ware in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Dillon Richards in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Next weekend is Eagle Raceway’s annual Fourth of July Freedom Fest. There will be a Red, White and Blue Challenge at intermission with the area’s largest fireworks display following the final feature. Front gates open at 5 p.m.

Andersen holds off Eagle challengers

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 20) – Dustin Andersen held off all challengers in a green, white, checkered finish to Saturday’s IMCA Modified main event at Eagle Raceway. In and out of the lead early on, Andersen outran Dylan Sillman following the final restart. Josh Blumer, Shane Hiatt and Anthony Roth rounded out the very fast top five. Tyler Drueke’s march to the front of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field had him in front with 10 laps left. He’d get the win ahead of Mike Boston. Jeff Ware led the last 11 times around the track in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and Shawn Harker was the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod winner. Dillon Richards also returned to victory lane, in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main.

Snyder first in Eagle opener

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 6) – The theme for Saturday night’s racing at Eagle Raceway was FINALLY! The Season Opener and meant that after a too long off season made even longer by the COVID-19 pandemic, competition was once again happening on the high banks. A total of 180 teams towed in to compete. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car lidlifter saw Jason Danley lead the first circuit with Trevor Grossenbacher, Stu Snyder and Ryan King close behind. Grossenbacher passed Danley on lap two but Danley edged him at the flag stand. Lap three saw Grossenbacher take the lead as Shon Pointer gained fourth. Snyder used the middle groove to advance to second with 15 to go. There were six laps left when Adam Gullion took fourth. Snyder grabbed the lead the next time around and began to pull away. Gullion advanced to third in the closing laps. The top four remained unchanged to the finish with Snyder winning, Grossenbacher second, Gullion third and Danley fourth. Great car gets Grossenbacher Sprint Series of Nebraska win

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 8) – Trevor Grossenbacher parked a great car in victory lane Sunday night, following the finale of the Precise Racing Sprint Series of Nebraska at Eagle Raceway. Grossenbacher’s $700 Nebraska Cup checkers came ahead of Jake Bubak and Jason Martin. “It was a lot of fun tonight. Rick Forbes is the car owner and it took all year long to finally get a win for him,” said Grossenbacher, runner-up at RaceSaver Nationals the previous week, “The feature was awesome. It was close at the end with lapped traffic but we had a great car.” Kaleb Johnson led lap one with Grossenbacher, Mike Boston and Chad Koch rounding out the top four. Koch passed Boston for third on lap two and Joey Danley got by Boston for fourth on the next lap. Danley moved up to third 2 laps later.
