IMCA Modifieds chase $3,000 top prize in Cocopah Winter Nationals weekend finale

SOMERTON, Ariz. (Feb. 11) – The biggest Winter Nationals paycheck and an IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified series championship are at stake this weekend at Cocopah Speedway. After running for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start their Friday, Feb. 14 feature, sanctioned Modifieds vie for a $3,000 top prize in the Saturday, Feb. 15 Winter Nationals finale. Taking the green flag on Saturday pays a minimum of $300. Smith sweeps Winter Nationals IMCA Modified features at Cocopah

SOMERTON, Ariz. (Feb. 7-8) – Despite his lengthy record of success, Dylan Smith has never started a race season quite like this. Smith swept weekend IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified Winter Nationals features at Cocopah Speedway, earning $1,000 for each of his Friday and Saturday night victories. “It’s a great way to start the season,” said the former national champion and defending IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s king. “I’ve never won right out of the box like this before. Winter Classic starts new season at Lubbock Speedway Feb. 15, 16

LUBBOCK, Texas (Feb. 9) – The inaugural Winter Classic special gets the new race season started next Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15-16 at Lubbock Speedway. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $1,000 to win in Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events both nights. Top prizes for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods are $500 while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks chase $200 to-win checks. 11 dates on XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour schedule

VINTON, Iowa (Feb. 7) – The fifth annual XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour takes the best Modified drivers from in and around Iowa to 11 different tracks this season. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for a minimum of $1,000 to win and $150 to start each night. Sobbing ends Thornton’s series streak in Canyon finale

PEORIA, Ariz. (Feb. 1) – Two weeks of ups and downs ended on the upside Saturday night for Jesse Sobbing. Sobbing beat Ricky Thornton Jr. to the $1,000 checkers by half a car length in the sixth and final Winter Challenge Series feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Canyon Speedway Park. The victory was the first of the season for the Iowa traveler, runner-up in national standings and the top rookie driver in the division in 2013. PEORIA, Ariz. (Jan. 31) – Ricky Thornton Jr.’s latest Winter Challenge Series feature win at Canyon Speedway Park came with a bonus. Along with a fourth consecutive $1,000 prize, Thornton gained the top spot in point standings for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified series Friday night. “The season started off way better that we thought it would,” he said after catching Tim Ward for the point lead. “Hopefully we can keep hitting our setup.” After returning to the sixth starting spot, Thornton was quick to shoot to second behind Chris Olexiewicz.
