Murray captures IMCA Modified victory at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 24) – Jacob Murray captured his third win in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds while Donavon Smith picked up another victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Friday at Marshalltoewn Speedway. Joey Schaefer won for the first time in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division and Eric Stanton got back on track, winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Murray started ninth in the Modified feature. He put his no. 48J ride to the topside and reeled in the front running cars quickly. When a yellow flew at lap four, Murray was already sitting in third place behind Jake Strayer and leader Jenae Gustin. Opheim tops thriller at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 23) – One thing is for sure when fans come to Kossuth County Speedway: They know the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars will put on an entertaining show. Thursday night was no exception as Kevin Opheim and Derek Green went door-to-door and back-and-forth before Opheim edged out Green for his first local win of the season. Green captured hard charger honors while Calvin Lange, Shane Curry and Kellie Schmit completed the top five. Josh Ruby was another first time winner in Algona, in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main event, while Shane Swanson collected his first local Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod trophy of the season. Cody Nielsen has been dominant in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and captured his third feature win of the summer at Kossuth County, coming from outside row four. Kaytee DeVries won the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature, earning her second feature victory of the season at Algona.

Seventh annual IMCA Sheen Memorial is July 2-3 at Cardinal Speedway

EUNICE, N.M. – Four IMCA divisions are featured at Cardinal Speedway’s seventh annual Kelly Sheen Memorial Shootout Saturday and Sunday, July 2-3. Qualifying begins on Saturday. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center SportMods all run Sunday for $1,100 to win while IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks vie for a top check of $500. The Modified feature is a 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event. All IMCA feature winners receive a 55-gallon drum of fuel in addition to their cash winnings and fireworks follow the Sunday show. Potential $2,000 top prize at Hancock County’s IMCA Hobby Stock special

BRITT, Iowa – The winner of Hancock County Speedway’s inaugural IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock special earns at least $1,000 and as much as $2,000. The Saturday, July 2 main event at Britt pays a guaranteed $1,000 to win with $500 bonuses if that driver has perfect attendance and has won a previous feature at Hancock County this season. Second place pays $750, with $500 for third. Start money is $100 and tow is $50. Entry fee, if paid by June 24, is $30. Toland, Morris, Olson win Mid-Season championship features at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 24) – As Davenport Speedway readies for next week’s Iowa Governor’s Cup, there was still one more night of point racing action to get in the books. Friday was Mid-Season Night. Rob Toland stretched out his point lead in the Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Model class. Toland started on the outside pole and led all 25 laps. Andy Nezworski came from ninth starting and used the low groove to finish second. Matt Ryan took third, finishing ahead of Kevin Kile and Chuck Hanna. Mitch Morris came from mid-pack to win the Eriksen’s IMCA Modified main. Ray Cox Jr. jumped out to the early lead and was able to hold the advantage for the first 14 laps. On lap 15, Morris forced his way under Cox to take the lead and his third point win of the season at Davenport. Cox held on to take second, with Doug Crampton third. Atchison checkers fly for Brown, Powell

By Rick Staley ATCHISON, Kan. (June 24) – Derrick Brown and Jim Powell Jr. were winners of IMCA features that ran green to checkered Friday at Atchison County Raceway. Brown picked up his second local feature win of the season, leading every lap of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified main. Steven Bowers Jr. raced through the pack to challenge Brown late, coming up with a close second place finish. Tony Layne, Jeremy Chambers and Nicholas Carpenter rounded out the top five. Greg Keuhn had the early lead until Jim Powell Jr. charged through the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field en route to his third Atchison County victory of 2016. Brad Whitney held off Gene Stigall for third and fifth place belonged to Josh Steele. IMCA Stock Cars were crowned “Best in Show” with the 10th finishing position being drawn and the added $100 cash awarded to Todd Wilson.

Penske Racing Shocks giving awards to IMCA Modified, Stock, Late Model drivers

READING, Pa. – For a fourth consecutive season, Penske Racing Shocks gives contingency awards to drivers in three IMCA divisions. Product certificates from the Reading, Pa., manufacturer worth $350, $250 and $150, respectively, go to top three eligible finishers in each of the five regions for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and in both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions.
