Bruening returns to Farley for career third Deery Series win at Yankee

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 3) – The biggest paying event on the Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule brings out the best in Tyler Bruening. Bruening topped Saturday’s $7,500 to win Yankee Dirt Track Classic main event for IMCA Late Models at Farley Speedway. All three of his career tour wins have come at the Yankee and over different distances … 50 laps in 2011, 75 laps in 2012 and 100 laps this year. “It’s a huge honor to win this race. Dover, Carney run 1-2 in Friday Sprint Nationals qualifying

(Sept. 2) – The winners of the last two Sprint Nationals ran 1-2 in Friday’s qualifying feature for this year’s IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car event. 2014 champion Jack Dover led defending king John Carney II across the stripe in opening night action at Eagle Raceway. Chad Wilson and Shon Pointer completed the top four. One hundred and seventeen cars vied at the fourth annual Nationals. “I got a really good jump at the start from fourth. Kay collects Friday Yankee Dirt Track Classic Deery checkers at Farley

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 2) – Right place, right time. Justin Kay inherited the lead after a flat tire sidelined race-long leader Spencer Diercks and led to the finish of Friday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Farley Speedway. The IMCA Late Model tour victory paid $2,000 and was the 19th of Kay’s career. He’s now tied with Rob Toland for seventh on the all-time Deery Series wins list. Fifty Late Models were on hand for the first of two Deery shows during the Yankee Dirt Track Classic, the top car count of the 30th annual tour. Diercks drew the pole start and led the first 38 times around the 3/8’s mile oval while Kay made his way forward from 11th starting. Diercks, however, pulled up lame on restart and Kay took charge. Toland adds 2016 title to IMCA Late Model national championship collection

VINTON, Iowa (Sept. 2) – Rob Toland ended a season-long run atop point standings for IMCA Late Models with his career third national championship. Toland adds the 2016 trophy to titles from 2001 and 2005. He won 10 features and local track crowns at his hometown Davenport Speedway and at Quad City Speedway as well. His Davenport title paid off with 15 bonus points, as Toland topped Luke Goedert of Guttenberg by an 800-797 margin for the national prize, worth a $5,500 share of the $21,300 point fund for the division. “When I won my first one in 2001 we were still kind of new to chasing points,” said Toland, at 54 the oldest driver to win an IMCA national championship. “It was different this year. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 at Stuart’s Night Before the Nationals

STUART, Iowa (Sept. 2) – A $1,000 check and a berth on the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot are at stake at Stuart Speedway’s Sunday, Sept. 4 Night Before the Nationals special. Also on the card are IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars running for $700 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $500. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be given. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $4 for kids and free for five and under. WHITE CITY, Ore. – The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner of Southern Oregon Speedway’s 21st annual Lon Skinner Memorial earns a hefty $5,000. The Sunday, Sept. 4 main event pays a minimum of $500 to each of the 24 starters and is a qualifier for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Modifieds also race for $600 to win in their Saturday, Sept. 3 feature. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for top checks of $400 on Saturday and $600 on Sunday. BRAINERD, Minn. (Aug. 26-27) – Eric Martini’s efforts to win the Mighty Axe Nationals took five years while Billy Kendall needed just seven minutes to race his way to the top step of the Modified podium at North Central Speedway. Martini topped Friday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified headliner at Brainerd and earned $1,000, Kendall’s Saturday checkers were good for $1,200 and their wins landed both drivers on the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. HENNESSEY, Okla. – Social media has helped Hesston Shaw follow who’s won what at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s for the past two years.
