LINWOOD, Pa. – Sunoco Race Fuels continues title sponsorship of both the IMCA Stock Car and IMCA Hobby Stock divisions in its 25th season of support for the sanctioning body and its drivers.
Manufacturer of the official fuel of IMCA and based in Linwood, Pa., Sunoco provides the point funds to be paid to top 15 drivers in point standings for each division.
Those checks will be presented during the national awards banquet in November or mailed beginning the next week from the IMCA home office.
“As we begin our 25th year working with IMCA we are proud to be able to say that we have supported one of the most solid grassroots racing organizations with a home office in the heartland of the United States and we have been onboard for a quarter of a century,” noted Sunoco Senior Sales Manager Terry Thompson. “IMCA has thrived because they provide outstanding and thrilling racing for racers and fans alike, week after week and decade after decade. It has been an honor to support this organization and the many great racers who compete here. Like those racers, Sunoco has racing in our DNA and we are happy to continue to support this great sport through IMCA.”
Drivers with perfect attendance throughout the upcoming Deery Brothers Summer Series will be entered in drawings for $250 in cash when they qualify for each Late Model tour main event. Sunoco antes up another $2,000 in cash to be awarded following Deery events in 2017.
Sunoco became an IMCA sponsor in 1993 and has been title sponsor of the Stock Car division since 1999 and the Hobby Stock division since 2006.
Sunoco also provides the $2,000 purse to be paid for the Stock Car Race of Champions to be held during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
No change has been made in eligibility for the Race of Champions, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9 at Boone Speedway: 2017 track and special series champions or point leaders in attendance, and former national champions, Super Nationals champions and race of champions winners are eligible to qualify for the 17th annual event.
Deery, Stock Car and Hobby Stock drivers are required to display two Sunoco decals on their race car and to compete with Sunoco race fuel to be eligible for point fund shares or cash awards.
Those decals will be included in packets mailed to Stock Car and Hobby Stock drivers after they purchase 2017 competitor’s licenses and will be available in pre-race tech inspection at all Deery Series events.
Information about Sunoco products and distributors is available at the www.racegas.com website and on Facebook.
“Sunoco becomes only the sixth sponsor to reach silver anniversary level with IMCA and we’re proud to have had a relationship with the leader in racing fuel longer than most of our competitors have been around,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said.
