Cranston takes win in SSO/URSS Challenge

(Sept. 17) – Current Myers Racing Engines United Rebel Sprint Series point leader Luke Cranston worked lapped traffic to his advantage, taking the lead with two laps to go to win the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car/URSS co-sanctioned event at Longdale Speedway Saturday night. The 25-lapper went caution-free in a time of six minutes and 47 seconds. Chris Kelly and Cody Whitworth started on the front row with Kelly getting the jump and taking the lead as the green flag fell on the 26-car field. Whitworth wasted no time making his move, driving underneath Kelly coming out of turn two to take the lead on lap three. He opened a half stretch lead before reaching the slower cars on lap seven while Brandon Long passed Kelly for the runner up position. Lap 10 saw Cranston get around Kelly for third. Online registration begins for IMCA Duel In The Desert

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers can register online for the Nov. 9-12 Duel In The Desert at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Modifieds race for $7,777 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier on Saturday, with a minimum of $777 paid to start the main event. The runner-up earns $3,250, with $2,250 for third, $1,750 for fourth, $1,500 for fifth, $1,250 for sixth, $1,150 for seventh, $1,100 for eighth, $1,050 for ninth and $1,000 for 10th. Rain wins again, Salina moves championship and fan appreciation night

By Dusty Wiegert SALINA, Kan. – Torrential overnight rains have once again canceled the night’s scheduled racing for Friday, Sept. 16 at Salina Speedway. The event will be moved, in its entirety, to Sunday, Sept. 18. The order of events for Sunday will be as follows: Pits will open at 1 p.m., grandstands at 1:30 p.m., hot laps at 3:15 p.m. and racing at 4 p.m. All Fan Appreciation Night tickets handed out to fans from the drivers and sponsors will be honored on Sunday. It’s the first time ever that a “stand packer” night shares the same event as the championship finale, in which seven drivers will be crowned as Champions. The event will be co-headlined with the Jaxson Fuller Youth Scholarship Fund night with many activities going on for the kids, who also receive free admission every week at the Speedway. Engine auction adds $18,200 to Saturday Super Nationals purse

BOONE, Iowa – The post-race auction of Saturday champions’ engines at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s added $18,200 to the purse paid out to other drivers in those four divisions. Modified champion Ricky Thornton Jr.’s engine sold for $6,500 so each of the other 32 drivers starting that event receives $203.13. The engine that put Elijah Zevenbergen on top of the Stock Car podium sold for $6,000. The other 29 drivers in that division receive an additional $206.90. Northern SportMod champion Doug Smith’s engine sold for $4,100. Each of the other 29 starters in that event gets $141.38. And Hobby Stock champion Andrew Burg’s engine sold for $1,600, so the other 29 starters in that race receive an additional $55.17. All four Saturday champions received new engines from Karl Chevrolet and Karl Performance.

Corn Cob Nationals this weekend at Buffalo River Race Park

GLYNDON, Minn. – Buffalo River Race Park wraps up the 2016 season with its Corn Cob Nationals program this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods vie for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points; BMS North Central Region points will also be awarded to Modified drivers. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Racing is at 6 p.m. Complimentary corn on the cob will be served on both sides of the track. CORTLAND, N.Y. – Skyline Raceway Park’s Turbo Blue Fall Classic provides the setting for Saturday’s Atomicwraps.com Empire State Series event. Touring Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $400 to win and a minimum of $75 to start the Sept. 17 feature. Two disqualified following Modified Challenge tire testing

ADA, Minn. – Two drivers have been disqualified from finishes in the Sanders Modified Challenge feature at Norman County Raceway, as a result of post-race tire testing. Samples were taken from tires from the two finishers in each heat; those taken from the tires of Billy Vogel and Jamie Trautner failed to meet IMCA benchmarks. Both drivers have been fined $1,000, were suspended for 30 days and lost all IMCA points accrued during the season.

Great Lakes Nationals prize is $3,000 for IMCA Modifieds

CRYSTAL, Mich. – Three thousand dollars and a spot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot are at stake at this weekend’s Great Lakes Nationals. Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds running Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18 at Crystal Motor Speedway earn a minimum of $300 to start, along with IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region and Allstar Performance State points.
