Hughes takes first Osky win of season 

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (June 29) – Mike Hughes raced to his first local checkers of the season Wednes­day at Southern Iowa Speedway. In the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car 18-lap feature, It was Hughes grabbing the lead early from his second row starting spot. Hughes had early battles from Todd Reitzler but held off those chal­lenges to go on to take his first win at Osky ahead of Damon Murty, Louis Lynch, Derrick Agee and Jason See. Scott Dickey got the led early in the Musco Lighting IMCA Modifieds 16-lap feature and built a sizeable lead. Colt Mather began to chase him down just before the only caution came out on lap 11. Dickey and Mather battled for the lead until Mather finally took it away and cruised on to his third win. Dickey settled for second with Andrew Schroeder in third, Ricky Thornton Jr. in fourth and Jason Hall in fifth. Three IMCA divisions on Friday Governor’s Cup card 

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Three IMCA divisions race Friday, July 1, night two of the Governor’s Cup at Davenport Speedway. IMCA Late Models battle for $3,000 to win, Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds for $1,500 to win and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for $750 to win, all on the ¼-mile oval. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded in all three divisions. Modifieds also chase BMS North Central Region points in the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. No track points will be given for the draw/redraw show. There is a $100 entry fee for Late Models and a $35 entry fee for Modifieds. The pit gate will open at 3 p.m. The grandstand will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:15 p.m. and racing at 6:45 p.m. Overnight camping is available. Mid-season championship wins at CJ go to Bell, Benischek 

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (June 24) – Adam Bell and Jake Benischek were feature winners on Friday, mid-season championship night at CJ Speedway. Travis Finke and Jordan Gerling led the Kauffman Electric IMCA Stock Car field to green but it was fifth starting Rod Staats in the lead when lap one was scored. Staats then had to work at holding off Bell over the next five laps. Bell slipped under Staats on lap six to take over the top spot, leaving Staats to battle Sky Griffith, who started ninth, Tad Payne, who started 13th, and Kirk Kinsley, who started eighth. As the battle for second heated up, Bell pulled away over the final nine laps to pick up his third win of the season at the track. Kinsley made a last-lap pass to finish second, Staats was third, Payne was fourth and Griffith came home fifth. Foster is first on Fan Appreciation Night at Banks

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. (June 25) – Sunset Speedway Park had a full house in the stands and in the pits for Fan Appreciation Night presented by Rockstar on Saturday. In the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Bubba Foster was the man to beat. Once he got to the front there was nothing holding him back as Foster captured his first local win of the 2016 season. Michael Melton found the winner’s circle for the second time in the current Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod campaign.

Nelson battles Braaten for Southern Oregon checkers

(June 25) – Bob Nelson won a late-race duel with Jorddon Braaten to score the victory in the 20 lap Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway. Nelson grabbed the lead early on while Braaten battled his way from the last row to provide the pressure. Braaten made a late pass on Nelson but the determined Nelson moved back by for the lead and victory.  Braaten settled for second as Nelson became the fourth different winner in the competitive division. Glen Severson and Tony Bartell shared the front row with Nelson starting seventh and Braaten 10th in the main event.  Bartell led one lap before Severson used an inside pass on the front stretch to grab the lead. $1,000 top prize for IMCA Stock Cars Friday at Denison

DENISON, Iowa – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $1,000 to win on Adams Motors Night this Friday, July 1 at Crawford County Speedway in Denison. There is no entry fee or number fee for first time drivers at Denison. The Stock Car portion of the program is draw/redraw. Completing the card are Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. All applicable points, including local track, will be awarded. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Hancock County salutes IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour winner Dripps

BRITT, Iowa (June 28) – After they saluted the men and women who served our country, fans at Hancock County Speedway saluted Corey Dripps. Dripps won the Tuesday night Salute to Veterans Hawkeye Dirt Tour main event, earning $3,500 for his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified victory. The pits were packed with 140 entries in five sanctioned divisions, including 44 Modifieds for the fifth of a dozen HDT events on the 2016 schedule. Dripps’ victory was his tour career first and put him on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “It was a very gratifying win for us tonight,” he said. I felt like we had been in position to win some of these races and I’ve let them get away. Dubuque Speedway to host Tri-Track IMCA Late Model Special 

By Jerry Mackey DUBUQUE, Iowa – This Sunday, July 3, Dubuque Speedway will host a special racing event featuring the Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models. The Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge will be held with the Late Models battling for 50 laps on the high banks of Dubuque Speedway with a first place $2,000 prize awaiting the winner. In addition to the Late Models, IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Northern SportMods and Stock Cars will all be in action. Sunday night’s special event will get underway with hot laps at 6 p.m. and the first race of the night at 6:30 p.m.
