Purse boosted for IMCATV-sponsored B feature at Sprint Nationals

EAGLE, Neb. – The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals purse has increased every year since it began. In past years the main event purse on Sunday has increased. Last year it was increased to $2,500 to win and $1,250 to start for the 27th place car. Nine rows of cars will start three-wide and run for shares of a $46,700 main event purse while the “B” feature non-qualifier purse for Sunday has been increased to $1,000 for the first non-qualifier (10th place) and $500 to start, making the total non-qualifier feature purse $7,000. High line takes Tony Harris to Shenandoah checkers

(April 29) – Tony Harris used the high line to save his tires and become the third different winner in as many Virginia Sprint Series events this season Saturday at Shenandoah Speedway. Bill Rice and Tony Harris paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to the feature green flag and it was on with Rice out first. Harris quickly moved to the top and by the finish of lap one he was leading. Anthony Linkenhoker and Jerald Harris quickly made it to Tony’s rear bumper and they went at it all race with Tony using the high line to keep up speed. Jerald Harris made it by for second but all he could do was shadow Tony all the way to the finish. Next up for the Virginia Sprint Series is the Saturday, May 6 visit to Natural Bridge Speedway. Wood finds spark for Sprint Series of Oklahoma win at Wichita

By David Smith Jr. WICHITA FALLS, Texas (April 28) – Joe Wood Jr. held off a late race charge from Jake Martens to claim his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Series of Oklahoma feature of the season Friday at Wichita Speedway. Chris Kelly and Wood started on the front row for the 20-lap feature with Wood taking the lead as the green flag fell. The race quickly went red when Brandon Long went for an easy tip over in turns three and four yet he would be able to restart at the tail of the field. Lee County paying $1,000 to May 4 winners in IMCA Modifieds, Stocks, Northern SportMods

DONNELLSON, Iowa – Checks for $1,000 go to feature winners in three IMCA divisions at Lee County Speedway’s Thursday, May 4 special. IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main events all pay $1,000 to win while the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature pays $300 to win. IMCA clarifies Modified, Late Model rear end weight rules

VINTON, Iowa – Weight rules for both IMCA Modified and IMCA Late Model divisions are not to be taken lightly. Rear end rules for the two divisions were clarified for the 2017 race season. The Modified rule specifies that a standard weight steel axle tube is allowed, the Late Model rule that standard weight aluminum or steel axle tubes only can be used in sanctioned competition. “This is a performance issue and one that is important for maintaining fairness,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “By no means do we believe the disqualification of the defending champion at the Independence Deery Series event was a result of intentional cheating of this rule, but it must be enforced regardless of who the driver is or their previous success. 2017 IMCA Late Model season begins Friday at Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Rob Toland will begin defense of his IMCA Late Model national championship this Friday, April 28 at Davenport Speedway. Toland’s 2016 national title was his career third. His previous national crowns were in 2001 and 2005. He was also the track champion at Davenport last season. Late Models will use a draw/re-draw format. Davenport’s other weekly classes, the Ericksen Chevrolet IMCA Modifieds, the Koehler Electric Street Stocks, and the Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMods, will be lined up by point average All races will be on the quarter-mile oval.
