Trenchard triumphs at Haudenshild Tribute

(June 2) – After taking the lead from Preston Jones early in the race, Nick Trenchard went on to victory in the 25-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway. This was the sixth annual Roger Haudenshild Tribute race and the win paid $2,000 to Trenchard, new to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. It was also his third win in the big event. Jones paced just one lap before Trenchard made an outside pass to gain the lead. On the third lap, Albert Gill took second and Duane Orsburn made his way to third. By then, Trenchard was a straightaway in the lead, leaving behind him a good battle between Gill and Orsburn for second. Davenport paying $2,000 to IMCA SportMod Challenge winner

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods vie in a $2,000 to win main event on Friday, June 8 at Davenport Speedway. The IMCA SportMod Challenge will use a draw/redraw format and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Iowa State points will be awarded for the draw/redraw show. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $30. Three get first IMCA wins of season at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 1) – The Davenport Speedway kicked off the month of June in style Friday with three IMCA drivers collecting their first local feature wins of the season. In Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model action, Chuck Hanna stole the show. Hanna easily won his heat race and then dominated the feature, leading 23 of the 25 laps. Hanna took the lead from Joe Ross on lap three and never looked back. Matt Ryan moved up through the field to record a second place finish. Joe Ross, Andy Nezworski and Rob Toland, completed the top five. The Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified feature had a similar story. A lap six restart gave Eric Barnes the opportunity to pass Craig Crawford for the lead. Barnes led the rest of the way. Bauer earns emotional win at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (June 1) – Racing action resumed Friday at Farley Speedway with the conclusion of the Bauer Memorial races that were cut short by a severe thunderstorm that hit the track on May 25. The most emotional win of the night came in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature as Troy Bauer used a last-lap pass of leader Tyler Soppe to score the Bauer Memorial trophy given in honor of his father Harry, who passed away this last January. Matt Gansen topped a strong field of IMCA Modifieds in taking the 20 lap feature win and Phil Holtz made a later race charge to win the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature ahead of Cole Mather. Winners of scheduled features included Darin Duffy, making a rare appearance at Farley, in the Modifieds, Soppe in the Northern SportMods and Mather in the Stocks.

Ruter cruises at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 31) – The IMCA Modified feature went green, white, checkered as Ryan Ruter drew the pole position and cruised to the Thursday win in front of the season’s biggest crowd at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona. Ethan Dotson ended up in second place and Ben Kraus was third, followed by Austin Wolf and Mat Hollerich. Chad Palmer paced the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars after taking the lead following a lap six restart. Bryce Sommerfeld held onto the front spot after a couple cautions in winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main while the only thing slowing George Nordman’s drive to the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod checkers was a lap nine yellow. Oliver Monson was never challenged in racing to his second Mach-1 Sport Compact victory this season at Algona.

Iowa Donor Network/Urbana 5 Night is June 10 at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $1,000 to win at Benton County Speedway’s Sunday, June 10 Iowa Donor Network and Urbana 5 Memorial Night. The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $400 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300. Elliott scores Red River Mod Tour win at Grayson County
