Full house on hand for Dawson County opener

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (May 19) – Racing action was hot and heavy on opening night Sunday at Dawson County Raceway, in front of a jam-packed house. Looking to start the season off on the right foot at Lexington were a large contingent of competitors hoping to drive their way to Coca Cola Victory Lane. The foursome of Jordan Grabouski, David Johnson, Braxton Berry and Ramsey Meyer were victors. Grabouski led much of the way and finished strong in the Holbein Lawn Service/K Lawn IMCA Modified feature. The defending national champion worked his magic on the top groove to get into the lead on the 12th lap and never looked back. 141’s Bouche Memorial totes $1,000 top IMCA Stock Car check

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars take top billing on the holiday weekend at 141 Speedway, running for $1,000 to win the Saturday, May 25 Nathan Bouche Memorial. IMCA Modifieds, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are also on the card. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, E3 Spark Plugs State and track points are at stake. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 2 p.m. and racing is at 6 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and free for kids ages 10 and under. Pit passes are $25. Morris wins again at I-37 By J.M. Hallas

PLEASANTON, Texas (May 18) – After earning his first-ever IMCA Modified feature win early last month, Chris Morris returned to the scene and picked up I-37 Speedway win number two, his third of the season, Saturday night. Morris was able to move up quickly and get early leaders Landon Bednarz and Jamie Campbell then motor away for the win. Morris went around Bednarz on the high side then ducked under Campbell to snag the top spot on lap four. After a late caution, he pulled away as Rick Green and P.J. Egbert ran side-by-side second. This left Morris uncontested at the checkers while Green edged out Egbert for second. “I knew it was going to be tough,” said Morris. “There’s quite a few good guys here. Hunt takes home Tri-City trophy

By Roger M. Williams AUBURN, Mich. (May 17) – Friday night belonged to Mitchell Hunt. Hunt won the Allstar Performance IMCA Modified main event at Tri-City Motor Speedway on a night that saw nearly 30 entries in the division. Outside polesitter Garrett Bennett led the opening laps before Chris Cohoon took over the top spot. But Hunt marched his way to the front and muscled away the lead from Cohoon on lap eight and never looked back. For Hunt, it was his first-ever Tri-City feature win. Opening night winner Matt Szecsodi, A.J. Ward, Jacob Flickinger and Brenten DeYoung secured top five finishes.

Crystal Modified checkers fly for May

Parade of different winners continues as Humphries tops Natural Bridge Sprint show

By Jim Haines NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. (May 18) – On the first summer-like day Tom Humphries figured out what he needed to get back to victory lane. Humphries topped the Saturday Virginia Sprint Series feature at Natural Bridge Speedway, becoming the fifth different IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car tour winner in as many events so far this season. Charlie Ware and Bill Rice started on the front row as the field went green with Rice out first. Rice tried to gap the field but Humphries stayed right on him. Jerald Harris made his way after the front two, first getting by Charlie Ware and then Daren Bolac. Humphries was by Rice and checking out as Harris closed, going low into second to take up the chase. The laps clicked off as Harris kept closing as they went under the white flag they were side-by-side. Patience pays off for defending champ at US 36

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (May 17) – Steven Clancy showed why he holds the top spot in Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod point standings at US 36 Raceway Friday night. The defending track champion waited through the early laps before picking up the pace and working his way through the field. Midway through the race he got to the back bumper of race leader Coleman Browning. He made the move for the lead and picked up win number three this year. Browning finished second, while Chris Wright finished third. Matt Lent looked strong early but faded to fourth and Randy Smith Jr. rounded out the top five. Mike Nichols also showed patience as he worked his way through the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field, then on the backside of halfway he moved around Mich Ross to take the lead. Shryock, Mills top Modified features at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 16) – Night number two of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season at Kossuth County Speedway saw Kelly Shryock and Jeremy Mills win IMCA Modified features. Shryock came from the outside of the second row to earn the victory in the scheduled feature as pole sitter Austin Wolf was the runner-up. Winner-of the event rained out and made up from the previous week, Mills rounded out the top five in the scheduled race. Two features were on tap for the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods as well, with Doug Smith winning the scheduled race and Matt Looft the make-up. Bassett continuing Stock Car, SportMod awards in 25th IMCA sponsorship season

BURLINGTON, Wis. – Another of IMCA’s longest tenured sponsors will be recognized with an award of its own this season. 2019 marks the 25th year of IMCA sponsorship by Bassett Racing Wheel.
