Sweet Manufacturing will add top Sprint Car rookie to post-season IMCA award program

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Sweet Manufacturing adds to post-season awards for IMCA drivers this season, giving a steering box to the national RaceSaver Sprint Car rookie of the year. The Kalamazoo, Mich., company is manufacturer of the Official Steering Box of IMCA and renews awards for IMCA Modified and IMCA Sunoco Late Model divisions as well. Part of the national decal program for the sixth year, Sweet gives steering boxes to the champions and $50 gift certificates to second through fifth place drivers in each of the five Modified regions. Modified drivers are required to display two Sweet Manufacturing decals on their race cars to be eligible for point fund shares. Sweet also gives a steering rack to the Late Model national champion. Carter, Van Eaton capture night 2 Dirt Duel qualifiers

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 2) – Brayton Carter and Todd Van Eaton won qualifying features on night two of Stuart Speedway’s Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel. Qualifying for Wednesday’s 50-lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature was set by four heats and two “B” features. Carter and Colby Langenberg brought the field to life with Carter taking control early. Cautions bunched the field up a few times but Carter was up to the challenge each time and went on to the win. Carter, Brian Osantowski, Colby Fett and Johnathon Logue were the top four cars that locked into Wednesday’s big show. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars followed the same exact format as the SportMods with Todd VanEaton and Joe Zrostlik on the front row. Schrader scores opener at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (May 30) – Kenny Schrader took the early lead and then schooled the IMCA Modified field following a late restart Saturday at The Quick Quarter of the Springfield Raceway. For Schrader, the opening night win marked a special moment as the very popular driver celebrated to the date his first-ever race and first-ever win 49 years ago. He’d also celebrated his 65th birthday just a day earlier. Schrader, in his Federated Auto Parts Modified, took the early lead from Derek Watson after starting third in the 20-lap Bad Boy Mowers feature. (May 30) – Christian Rumsey removed “almost” from his resume Saturday night, winning the two-month-delayed 2020 season opener for the Pennsylvania Sprint Series at Selinsgrove Speedway. Rumsey led the final two laps after advancing from 14th starting and collected the winner’s trophy for the 20-lap PASS victory on a night when 51 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars battled on the historic Snyder County half-mile track. It was the first Sprint Car feature win for the 21-year-old from Middletown, N.Y. QA1 competitors in 5 IMCA divisions chase new awards

LAKEVILLE, Minn. – Drivers in five IMCA divisions competing with QA1 shocks this season earn shares of another $2,200 to be awarded by the Lakeville, Minn., high performance parts manufacturer. Product certificates valued at $200 go to the highest finishing driver in each of the five IMCA Modified regions, both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car regions and both IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock regions, and in national Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod standings. Lee County Drive For 5 schedule adjusted

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that took all of April’s and most of May’s scheduled race events at Pepsi Lee County Speedway, promoters Brian and Marcie Gaylord have announced several schedule changes to the Drive For 5 program for IMCA Sunoco Late Models. There will still be five $1,000 to win feature qualifying nights to help set the stage for a potential $5,000 IMCA Sunoco Late Model Drive For 5 payday in mid September at the track. Four of the qualifying nights will take place on weekly Friday night events, on June 12, June 26, July 17 and Aug. 21, with one qualifying night on Saturday, Aug. 1. Season opener with fans at Benton County Speedway Sunday, June 7

Under the direction of the Dripps family, the Speedway located on the Benton County Fairgrounds has undergone many improvements and upgrades. The track is in excellent condition and with all the time and effort put into enhancing the surface, the track is going to be very conducive to extremely exciting racing. Four IMCA divisions race Saturday at Bethany Speedway

By Chet Querry BETHANY, Mo. – Bethany Speedway returns to action on June 6 with a full night of racing at the Northwest Missouri State Fairgrounds. The Saturday program features IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. Opening night of the 2020 season saw records broken with total of 128 cars and drivers traveling from as far away as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Arkansas and Arizona to race on the smooth, fast and always competitive Bethany oval. Thomas County Speedway gears up for busy June

COLBY, Kan. – Thomas County Speedway will host its season opener this Friday, June 5 at the 3/8-mile speedplant. In action will be IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets cost $10 for adults with children ages 12 and under admitted free when accompanying a paid adult. Racing action continues on Friday, June 12 with the same divisions and start times, before leading into a big doubleheader weekend June 26 and 27. The Friday night, June 26 card will again see sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods and Sport Compacts in action. The Saturday, June 27 card changes pace and welcomes the United Rebel Sprint Series as part of a one-of-a-kind show that’s never been seen before at Thomas County Speedway.
