Sweigart adds PASS win no. 2 at Selinsgrove

(June 28) – Nick Sweigart became a multiple 2020 Pennsylvania Sprint Series winner Sunday when he captured the 20-lap feature run as part of Speedweek at Selinsgrove Speedway. Sweigart, who started fourth and took the lead from Ron Aurand on lap five, was never seriously challenged after that, working lapped traffic perfectly. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win was his second of the year and his seventh overall with PASS. “I didn’t really know where I needed to be, top or bottom,” Sweigart said in victory lane of the lapped traffic situation, “so I was kind of floating back and forth, and I figured I’d run the top until I felt pressure, and I really didn’t feel any pressure. Walp dominates in BAPS RaceSaver Sprint feature

(June 27) – All John Walp wants is a little improvement from his second place finish in 2019 BAPS Motor Speedway Pennsylvania Sprint Series standings for to first in 2020. He’s off to a solid start toward that goal. Walp wired the field to win the 20-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature Saturday at BAPS. The Wapwallopen driver has now scored two of his three career PASS victories at York Haven. In victory lane, he noted that he was able to keep the car low on the track and thwart efforts by defending national champion Ken Duke to move up. The track was slick and tricky, with drivers having to “slow down to go fast,” and Walp was able to extend his lead after every restart. DCRP vs. URSS Sprint Car Clash Thursday at Dodge City

And it all goes down Thursday night atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval in southwest Kansas when the top Sprint Car drivers throughout the region face off to vie for a boosted winner’s share of $1,000. Thursday’s tilt pits the Hambelton Racing DCRP Sprint Cars versus the United Rebel Sprint Series. It is also a full night of championship chase action for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. In total, the Sprint Car Clash purse has been boosted by $1,000. While the winner receives $1,000, the runner-up will pocket $700 with start money at $125. Thursday’s racing action will go green at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets for Thursday’s Sprint Car Clash are $12 for adults while children 11 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Kiefer repeats IMCA Modified triumph at McGowan Memorial

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 27) – Racing returned to Bakersfield Speedway and Austin Kiefer returned to victory lane following Saturday’s Richie McGowan Memorial. Kiefer topped the IMCA Modified special ahead of Robby Sawyer for a second straight year, earning $1,000. Jerry Flippo, Cody Laney and Troy Foulger completed the top five. “It was pretty cool deal. To be able to win this race twice in a row means a lot to me,” said Kiefer, already a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot candidate. “I grew up watching Tina and Brad (Pounds, McGowan’s daughter and son-in-law) race.” Kiefer started outside Sawyer on the front row and led every lap. Hard charger Olson holds of Arlington Hobby Stock challengers

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 27) – Passing seven cars and taking the quick lead wasn’t even the most challenging part of Matt Olson’s run to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Once in front, Olson had to hold off Jed Trebelhorn and then five-time and defending track champion Cory Probst to stay there. Probst ended in second while Luke Trebelhorn got around his brother Jed to take third. Tenth starting Zach Davis caught Matt Looft in the final turn for the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod victory and Bill Johnson led the last five circuits in a caution-free IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car contest. Brandon Beckendorf also started 10th, and won the IMCA Modified main event. Dan Mackenthun led start to finish in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main and Nate Coopman took the Mach-1 Sport Compact checkers.

Schulte, Docekal dash to first wins of season at Benton County Speedway

By Jerry Mackey VINTON, Iowa (June 28) – Mark Schulte and Joe Docekal scored first local wins of the season on the night Benton County Speedway hosted the world’s largest candy dash. Mark Schulte took the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature win ahead of two of the most accomplished drivers to ever strap into a Modified. Greg Kastli had a great night with a heat win and a second place finish in the main. Troy Cordes followed Kastli under the checkers in third. Joe Docekal has been a frontrunner in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod division this season but the wins have eluded the Dysart driver. Docekal was not to be denied on Sunday night however as he took the lead from early leader Kyle Olson and went on to score the feature win ahead of Brady Hilmer and Jason Doyle. Urbana 5, Iowa Donor Network Night July 5 at Benton County

VINTON, Iowa – Four IMCA divisions take their turn on the track during Benton County Speedway’s Urbana 5 Memorial/Iowa Donor Network Night on Sunday, July 5. Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods run for $1,000 to win that evening. IMCA Modifieds chase a $700 top check while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $400 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300. Additional sponsorship money and awards are to be announced. There will be prizes for fans and a bike giveaway for kids as well. There is no entry fee for any division. Pit gates at The Bullring open at 3 p.m. with racing at 5 p.m. Spectator admission is $14 for adults, $11 for seniors and students, and free for kids five and under. Wayman handles Eagle SportMod foes

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (June 27) – Cole Wayman got the lead on lap seven and drove to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod checkers Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Wayman had cracked the top four on the fourth circuit and the top three the next time around. The final caution of the Star Spangled Showdown show came with six laps left and while Matt Andrews was the mn on the move, he had to settle for third behind Wayman and Mike Scheinost. Toby Chapman was the fourth and final leader in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature, beating Adam Gullion and Ryan King to the checkers. Other winners were Jordan Grabouski in the IMCA Modifieds, Jeff Ware in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Dillon Richards in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Next weekend is Eagle Raceway’s annual Fourth of July Freedom Fest. There will be a Red, White and Blue Challenge at intermission with the area’s largest fireworks display following the final feature. Front gates open at 5 p.m.

Bethany checkers fly for Stallbaumer

(June 27) – With a new running order every time around the oval, Tim Stallbaumer was the leader of the 15th and final circuit of Saturday’s Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature at Bethany Speedway. Stallbaumer found his way to the front and never looked back as he picked up the win from the eighth starting spot. Tim Eaton held the lead for a few laps about mid-race and finished second. Steven Clancy and Chris Wright stayed in close contact the entire race and finished third and fourth, respectively. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature started with Mich Ross and Steve Starmer on the front row. From the drop of the green flag for about four laps they stayed side by side with Ross on bottom and Starmer on top. (June 27) – Seven days ago, Justin Svoboda’s no. 16 Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod was pictured beneath the no. 22 car of Tim Swartz on the front straightaway at Off Road Speedway. Just a week later, Svoboda was celebrating his first SportMod win at the track, a big moment during what has been a difficult season. “We’ve had a rough go of it so far. This is my ninth night of racing and this is only the fifth race that I’ve finished,” Svoboda said. “We’ve been fighting a lot of issues and trying to get this new car headed in the right direction, and it looks like it’s starting to go that way.
