Florida Mod Lite Racing plans 11 dates at East Bay in first IMCA STARS season

TAMPA, Fla. – The IMCA STARS sanction is the next step in the right direction for Florida Mod Lite Racing. Home track East Bay Raceway Park at Tampa is the site of 11 events and will crown its first IMCA STARS Mod Lite champion in 2021. It’s anticipated that another half-dozen special events at other area tracks will complement East Bay shows. “Sanctioning with IMCA is a step in the right direction. It’s a perfect fit,” said first-year FMLR promoter Alex Cline. “There are no huge-budget teams and we’re not racing for giant purses. Bakersfield Speedway primes for opening night March 6

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The long-awaited green flag flies for the first time this season Saturday, March 6 at Bakersfield Speedway. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods all see action at the California oval idled for much of 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic. “It was a crazy, weird season last year,” acknowledged Promoter Scott Schweitzer. “It’s exciting to be able to go racing again. We’re not going to be 100 percent back to normal but it’s going to be good to get cars back on the track and get back to racing.” The grandstand will be closed and all admission will be to the pit area on opening night. Pit passes will be $40 for drivers and crew members, $20 for family members and non-racers. IMCA STARS Mod Lites new at East Moline Speedway

EAST MOLINE, Ill. – STARS Mod Lites become the fifth IMCA division on Sunday race programs at East Moline Speedway in 2021. “We’ve had Mod Lites for about seven years. It’s a good class, a growing class. These cars are definitely quick and the drivers respect each other,” said new promoter and former car owner Jeff Peterson. “A lot of the drivers have been in them for years and it’s the class they bring their kids into.” The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing season opens April 25 and runs through Aug. 29, with four more race dates in September. Friesen awards crate engines to IMCA’s top Modified, Hobby, Northern SportMod rookies

SUTTON, Neb. – Drivers in three IMCA divisions winning national rookie of the year honors are the big winners in the awards program renewed by Friesen Performance. The Sutton, Neb., dealership gives a 604 crate engine to the national Modified rookie of the year and 602 crate engines to both national Hobby Stock and Northern SportMod rookies of the year for the eighth consecutive season. Rookie competitors in each of those divisions must display two Friesen Performance logos on their race car to be eligible. Engine awards will be presented during the IMCA national banquet this fall. Rules, opportunities sell Valley Speedway on IMCA Northern SportMods, STARS Mod Lites

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. – Time-proven rules and new opportunities for drivers at Valley Speedway sold promoter Dennis Shrout on sanctioning IMCA Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and IMCA STARS Mod Lite divisions this season. Both classes will join Saturday night race programs at his Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo., some 10 miles east of Kansas City on Interstate 70. Shrout plans to work closely with Jon Boller, promoter at US 36 Raceway and Bethany Speedway, in building the IMCA following in the northwest corner of the Show Me State. Defending champ Holland tops opener for Western RaceSavers

HANFORD, Calif. (Feb. 20) – Once she got going the right direction, there was no catching Brooklyn Holland Saturday at Kings Speedway. The defending Van De Pol Western RaceSaver series for IMCA Sprint Cars and KMJ Performance California State champion topped the 2021 divisional season opener, rallying after falling off the pace from her fourth starting spot. Holland fell back to sixth before starting her drive to the front. IMCA STARS Mod Lites are super addition at Greenville

GREENVILLE, Texas – A class James Bryant had a hand in helping get started runs under the IMCA banner at his Superbowl Speedway this season. Nine Saturday dates for IMCA STARS Mod Lites are on the 2021 schedule at Greenville, with the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season running from March 20 to Aug. 28. “I helped get this class going around here and we’ve always Mod Lites 3-5 times a year,” said veteran promoter Bryant. “When they called and asked if we wanted to sanction with IMCA, the answer was yes.” Plans for a Mod Lite special at Superbowl are in the works. Sunoco continues title sponsorship support for IMCA Late Models, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks

VINTON, Iowa – Sunoco Race Fuels nears another milestone with IMCA while continuing title sponsorship support for three divisions. Linwood, Pa.-based Sunoco, manufacturer of The Official Fuel of IMCA, furnishes a portion of post-season point funds to be paid to Late Model, Stock Car and Hobby Stock drivers. The 2021 season is Sunoco’s 29th as an IMCA sponsor. Spring Kickoff starts season at Kennedale Speedway Park

KENNEDALE, Texas – Kennedale Speedway Park kicks off the new season in Texas this weekend, with the Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27 Spring Kickoff. IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both race for $500 to win on Friday and $600 to win on Saturday, while Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods race for $500 to win to each night. Mach-1 Sport Compacts run for $200 to win on Saturday. All feature fields will start 24 cars.
